Hell yes.

Big fan and glad that I won't have to drop 30 bucks on it.

Haha, I've never seen this movie but I want to because of Jackie Brown. Always thought that song was about hookers though...

Great flick. Anyone know if this release is still in print? I could have sworn Amazon had copies only a couple of months ago but it's looking a little worrying right now. Never got around to picking it up and now regretting it.

It sold out awhile ago when Kino had it in their "While Supplies Last" sale. DVDs had still been available, but don't know if that's still the case.

I picked up one from Amazon Spain last week. It’s getting slim out there.

I've never seen his name mentioned anywhere, but Paul Benjamin was an especially powerful actor...he conveys so much with a simple look. Escape from Alcatraz was a favorite of mine growing up, and he just transfixed me in his scenes with Clint: "The dudes were white man! Just...like...you."

I love him here; he's so strong and resolute even when the screws start to turn. His best moment is the way he stares at his in-denial cohort as he rambles on about hopeless dreams. Benjamin doesn't say a word, yet the look on his face speaks volumes as he knows they're doomed.

Just a very gifted actor never given his due, in a fantastic film.

This is being released on Australia's Imprint label on April 27th:

Some of the label's previous releases were region free so this might be as well.

All of them have been region free. You can even pick it up from US retailers. DeepDiscount has 15% off with code SUNNY right now.

Sad my learning of this corker was occasioned by Kotto's death but glad it's on (gettin' a little pricey) Kino BD.

Lots of noteworthy stuff goin' down here. The gritty setting/production design, the wonderful luminescence of so much fluorescent lighting. Some of it is seemingly a contrasty presentation but it's also how it almost looks as though dp Jack Priestley cranked up pre-existing light sources to shoot in "available light." The glows/coronas/blooms are appealing.

(Mexican-born) Anthony Quinn portraying Italian.

Kotto died in 2021 and Paul Benjamin died in 2019.

The powerful exchange between Benjamin's Harris and Norma Donaldson's Gloria ("Look at me! You're looking at a 42-year-old ex-con ni**er, with no schooling, no trade, and a medical problem.") presages a similarly heartbreaking exchange with less dialogue between Dennis Haysbert's (drunk) Breedan and his lady in Heat.

A hidden in plain sight gem. Painful to see something so richly period from 50 (!) years ago depicting urban tensions that are still very much with us.

Debating getting the Imprint.

Picked up the Imprint release and watched it lastnight. Awesome film! I saw it years ago but didn't remember too much about it. A 70s cop thriller equal to The French Connection IMO. Great acting all around. Yaphet Kotto was a criminally underrated actor. I did a Yaphet Kotto double feature lastnight with this and Blue Collar. Transfer and audio were solid.

You might also want to check out Report to the Commissioner... another great 70s gritty crime thriller with Yaphet Kotto in a memorable role.

Wouldn't call it great...there's a lot to like about it, but it's flimsy in several areas. And when it comes to Kotto, his role is much smaller than it is here. I'm glad I picked up Kino's Blu-ray though before it went OOP (same with this one.)

Across 110th Street is an absolute banger though. When it comes to the performances, everybody is on point, but Paul Benjamin and Richard Ward leave the deepest impressions.
