these low budget films aren't going to be reference quality, studios are not going to drop a ton of money on them when the return is going to be less profitable when comparing to recent/big budget/popular films, you haven't even seen the PQ on Casper, The Little Rascals or Flintstones and you're prejudging. Also you have to remember the source material these movies were shot on. I'm a firm believer that everything will become on bluray, but i hate to say it if digital keeps making a huge push our favorite childhood titles may never see the light of blu. so if the transfer is subpar it will still look better then DVD Last edited by nolfoc; 06-10-2014 at 11:07 PM. |

The Frighteners Jaws To Kill a Mockingbird Schindler's List Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz The Chucky movies (not alot of extras, but a good amount.) the Back to the Future movies E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial And many more Want to know what these movies have in common, they're all Universal catalog titles with great video, audio, and extras. Just because a hand full of releases are crap, doesn't mean that all of the studios catalog releases are bad. And be honest, every studio by this point has had a crappy Blu-ray release. So, just because some Universal movies have had terrible Blu-ray catalog releases, doesn't mean they all will be. You know what happens when you assume, you make an as$-out of-u-and-me ![]() P.S. Can someone give me a list of the really terrible Universal Blu-rays, I'm just curious. |

Jaws and Schindler's List transfers were both approved by Spielberg, and look beautiful. Heck I'll even defend the Blu-ray of Liar Liar because it looks really good for a Jim Carrey comedy, still has grain intact, it still looks like a movie, and the people don't look like wax figures. Video messes like Predator, Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray season sets, The Sword in the Stone, and Mickey's Christmas Carol are a lot worse then any of the transfers of the movies I've listed. I don't mind DNR in moderation and it's fully controlled, but when you DNR the footage into oblivion and make live action movies look like wax museums & animated movies a smeary mess then I have a problem. While Universal has had a few really terrible ones, so has every other company. |

Also, what about the dozens and dozens of badly processed Universal titles? Sure, Universal has done really well with maybe 15-20 titles, but what about the rest? The Jurassic Park trilogy is also a disappointment. |
