Awesome! Just wish someone'd release Casper Meets Wendy and that other one.

Seriously though, CMW was a huge vhs guilty pleasure for me.

Its a damn shame Universal dropped Casper after the first film, I think the later films would have been better with a bigger budget than the company that handled the sequels.

I can't believe that it's finally coming, such a good year for some of my favorite catalogue releases!

I feel like Universal is not even trying with their catalog releases. Mediocre transfers at best and lack of Special Features

Who cares? A bunch of hardcore moviebuffs care! Specially when its coming from your childhood era. We all want fantastic PQ and not some crappy unconverted DVD quality transfers (recent An American Tail) and then have the audacity to slap the words "Perfect Picture and Sound" on it. They don't give them the proper treatments they deserve or the remaster they deserve.

People never thought that Casper, The Little Rascals, The Flinstones, etc wouldn't get a Blu-ray treatment? Seriously? They were highly successful movies back in their days with good production costs. The studio was obviously going to get it released on Blu-ray. We just didnt know when they were coming.

these low budget films aren't going to be reference quality, studios are not going to drop a ton of money on them when the return is going to be less profitable when comparing to recent/big budget/popular films, you haven't even seen the PQ on Casper, The Little Rascals or Flintstones and you're prejudging. Also you have to remember the source material these movies were shot on. I'm a firm believer that everything will become on bluray, but i hate to say it if digital keeps making a huge push our favorite childhood titles may never see the light of blu. so if the transfer is subpar it will still look better then DVD

Casper wasn't a low budget movie. It was a major theatrical release, and the movie was financially successful as well. Casper was a good, well made film, it's a movie for the entire family to enjoy. I loved it! The DTS on the DVD was very impressive, and just imagine what the lossless audio on the blu-ray is going to sound like.

The Mummy movies

The Frighteners

Jaws

To Kill a Mockingbird

Schindler's List

Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz

The Chucky movies (not alot of extras, but a good amount.)

the Back to the Future movies

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial

And many more

Want to know what these movies have in common, they're all Universal catalog titles with great video, audio, and extras. Just because a hand full of releases are crap, doesn't mean that all of the studios catalog releases are bad. And be honest, every studio by this point has had a crappy Blu-ray release. So, just because some Universal movies have had terrible Blu-ray catalog releases, doesn't mean they all will be. You know what happens when you assume, you make an as$-out of-u-and-me.So, wait and see what this release will bring before we say it will suck.

P.S. Can someone give me a list of the really terrible Universal Blu-rays, I'm just curious.

These movies with the exception of The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor all either have DNR & Edge Enhancemnt or both applied to them and can look a hell of a lot better.

To Kill a Mockingbird looks flat out beautiful on Blu-ray, with grain completely intact.

Jaws and Schindler's List transfers were both approved by Spielberg, and look beautiful.

Heck I'll even defend the Blu-ray of Liar Liar because it looks really good for a Jim Carrey comedy, still has grain intact, it still looks like a movie, and the people don't look like wax figures. Video messes like Predator, Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray season sets, The Sword in the Stone, and Mickey's Christmas Carol are a lot worse then any of the transfers of the movies I've listed. I don't mind DNR in moderation and it's fully controlled, but when you DNR the footage into oblivion and make live action movies look like wax museums & animated movies a smeary mess then I have a problem. While Universal has had a few really terrible ones, so has every other company.

He bolded the ones he was referring: Back to the Future and the first couple of Mummy movies are too processed.

Also, what about the dozens and dozens of badly processed Universal titles? Sure, Universal has done really well with maybe 15-20 titles, but what about the rest?

The Jurassic Park trilogy is also a disappointment.
