I loved the restoration they did with the first RoboCop, but I just think they should do something similar with RoboCop 2, which is a proper Peter Weller's RoboCop movie and a classic in its own right.
What do you think? |

The current available transfer looks really good too. There won't be near enough outcry for a new one.
It appears to me that Fox is just rolling through their top-selling MGM titles and giving them 4K transfers in an attempt to double dip. Since the transfers have largely represented real upgrades and the release prices have been very reasonable, it's been worth it, at least for me, to buy Fargo, Rocky and especially Terminator again (waited on Robocop so I was buying that for the first time). I love the Robocop movies but wouldn't likely buy another Robo 2 for such a minor visual upgrade as what Rocky got, for example. |

have you seen '3' - that's far worse. 2 is fun because it's just as mean and nihilistic as the first film. (and there's a higher body count) AND it has the better 'louder' sound mix.

I saw a little bit of 3 back when it came out and I remember it being really bad. The violence is good in 2 but the acting is really bad.

![]() 2 is no classic like the first one but its still a good (rather humour-less) action film. And the PQ is pretty good in my opinion. Strangely enough though, 3 has even better PQ.. |

I've always liked Robo 3. It's not a great movie by any stretch and the fx are horrible. Still it has it's Frank Miller quirks, and it's take on using mercenaries for urban gentrification without state or local government to broke and unorganized to do anything about it has a ring of comedy and truth to the proceedings. It also has one of the best supporting cast ever for what is essentially a B movie. Still, I wouldn't buy it unless it was $5 or less.
From all reports the quality on it is pretty solid and I can tell you Robo 2 is one of my alltime faves and I've watched the BD about 5 times already. The PQ on 2 is exceptional. Truth be be told it wouldn't surprise me if it's a 4k scan. The level of detail on the revised Robocop armor in 2 is exceptional. If you can buy it in a single disc edition go for it. If not pick up the trilogy pack. I saw it at Costco for $19.96. Good deal really as it does come with the new Robo 1 remaster. |

By the way, "RoboCop 2" is a great sci-fi action movie. Surely it's not as bleak or poignant as the first one, but still a great movie in its own right. |

[Show spoiler] Robocop 2's transfer is incredible, as is Robocop 3's. In some ways, 3 is even better than 2 PQ wise. I too would not be shocked if they were both 4K transfers. |

(I don't remember the plot, I just remember the Gong Show acts making cameos.) As for 3, the producers confessed they didn't even want to do it after 2 dropped the ball down the sewer, but the Asian market insisted. The enthusiasm shows. |

The scene is where Robocaine is being delivered to a warehouse meeting, via an 18 wheeler, to do some damage. Camera filming the scene is positioned at street level. So as the 18 wheeler pulls into the parking lot, of the warehouse, it travels directly towards the camera and comes to a stop right over the top it. The surround sound effect is that you "feel" as though the 18 wheeler has just rolled into your HT and come to rest right over your head! ![]() ![]() I swear that you can "feel" the trucks air brakes as they're applied. ![]() Try that scene at reference volume level and you'll experience what I'm describing. ![]() |

Well I believe so. Miracles happen. Would you be interested with new Dolby Atmos tracks together with the DTS-HD MA 5.1 & 2.0?

If there's any movement on the long-gestating-and-never-moving-forward Robocop sequel/reboot front, it will happen. Otherwise, it won't happen until Amazon decides to commission 4K remasters for 2 and 3, to provide UHD streaming masters that can be licensed out by Shout or whomever. We only got the recent Robocop game because the above mentioned project was supposed to have been shot and released by now, but that obviously never happened, so we wait and wait and wait some more.
