This was a surprisingly decent horror film and a good follow-up to Sinister, in my opinion.

I'm not sure if I would buy it, but I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Very clichéd and predictable possession flick. Really disappointing considering I loved Sinister.

USA Deliver Us from Evil (2014) - October 28, 2014

Sony will be releasing Deliver Us from Evil on October 28th, right in time for Halloween I've heard fairly good things about the movie, so I look forward to checking it out.

Quote:
In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Based upon the book, which details Sarchie's bone-chilling real-life cases.

I loved Sinister but, I hated this. Awful script and mediocre performances.

Just seen it. Load of cliched stylized old rubbish. Blatty should have copyrighted the Exorcist and all likenesses, every movie focussing on demonic posession since then has tried to follow the same formula, adding a few of its own daft touches into the mix, but coming up way way short.

An exorcism scene with a blaring number from The Doors? What the f*** was that about?

Was really looking forward to this but ended up pretty disappointed when I saw it in theaters. I'll pick it up but I'll wait till it gets cheap at Family Video.

Well that never stopped anyone from voicing their option on here before.

One of the worst movies of the year. This is such a silly mess but worst of all it's not remotely entertaining. This was boring as hell. Nearly impossible to get invested in.

4/10 (D+)

So glad I skipped this at the theater.

I saw this in theaters but was talking about it with the friend I went to see it with, and we were arguing about whether this had forced subtitles for a brief period in it or not. Can someone confirm either way?

OMG Scott Derrickson has moved to the top of my brown note directors. Sinister, and then this. I got to pick up Emily Rose now.

And I got to add that Hellraiser Inferno has always been my fav Hellraiser film.

The ONLY complaint I have on the blu-ray are the trailers for other films. Several of them , like The Calling, I was thinking wow they look good. Until I see the "available on DVD" at the end...

Deliver Us From Evil is pretty good. But it doesn't come close to being as bad ass as Derrickson's Emily Rose or Sinister.

If anyone likes possession films definitely check out The Vatican Tapes. Ignore the hate and watch it. It's evil in the most beautiful way.

Needed $8 to hit the free next day shipping threshold yesterday on Amazon (had 20 minutes to order) and I saw this under the suggestions tab, so without wanting to spend any more than needed and having limited time I pulled the trigger and blind bought this.

It was only $10 so I'm hoping it's at least decent. Should arrive today.

I would have picked something else from my wish list (mostly 80s horror) but they were all $15+, most of them not worth quite that much to me. I usually wait on price drops.

Werdsniper2, have you had a chance to watch this?

I just finished watching Deliver Us from Evil in my 61 days of spooky/horror/halloween movies (see* 31 Days of Halloween Movies (2018) - Horror Fans Unite!!!!!!)! as it is an excellent spooky possession film for me, my cup of tea ... it is in always in my halloween/spooky rotation!
