Bookends? Finally! Warners have been denying us the fancier editions for the past couple of releases, so glad it looks like they've changed their minds (though let's not forget that there was a 'Bilbo's Trunk' edition planned of AUJ:EE in the UK that never showed up)

Hopefully it's the Guards of Erabor bookends set that a few countries got with the theatrical version. They looked fantastic.

Can't wait for the disc itself as well. I imagine most of the changes will be in the first half (more Beorn, more Mirkwood, more Thranduil) which will be nice as I'd like to linger in those places and with those characters a little longer. Though the timelines does seem to skip a day between Laketown and the Lonely Mountain in the theatrical edition so hopefully that will be filled in.

I also hope not. I want Weta to continue to do giftsets for The Hobbit SEEs, like always. The Guards were by Noble Collection and while looking solid, the Argonath they're _not_.

I'm hoping for the normal extended 3D version, like the one they released for An Unexpected Journey.

Somehow there still seems to be no preorder for the UK version. I am most eager for the DVD digipak, but the Amazon.co.uk preorders are still non-orderable.

And that despite other countries where the SEE is already listed: USA, Germany, France...

Really want the 5 disc edition.
Would always prefer the 2D versions, but there wasnt one for UE:EE, so will get the 5 disc version to match the last one.

UK release available for pre-order again at Amazon with confirmed release date...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Hobbit-D...ug+3d+extended

This will do very nicely, £21.50 minus about £12 for the 3D discs will leave me with the 2D film, 2x Bonus Discs and case for around £10

Come on where is the picture of the bookends! What's the chances though that it's the same as the US bookends that they got for An Unexpected Journey....
(Same as the French standard version of DoS)

Hopefully it'll be in the Amazon's "deals of the day" around Xmas like Unexpected Journey was. £10 if I remember correctly.

German 3D extended with statue is a good price this now.
€67.99
http://www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B00MFUB...A3JWKAKR8XB7XF

EDIT: Decided to go ahead and preorder this. Including all fees it comes to a total of 72.37 euros which is roughly £57. Can't really argue with that. Prefer the statue to sit along side my AUJ statue as opposed to the bookends. You never know, I might come across them 1 day at a car boot sale like I did the Two Towers Gollum which I picked up for £3!

Amazon wont despatch to UK customers until Saturday or Sunday depending upon whether or not there are Amazon Logistics deliveries to your area on a Sunday

You may be too late now but Tesco tend to be the most reliable for Saturday delivery, but they have a very small range of the big titles.

Zavvi are hit and miss and the problem is you don't know which they will be on a particular title. So on some like this they get to very early, but other titles can be weeks late or never fulfilled.

Apologies if I've missed this info, but does the Ext 3D Smaug have a lenticular cover, like the Ext 3D release of 'An Unexpected Journey' had?
