Hi all,
So I found an underground horror memorabilia shop in the next town over who will sell me a brand new copy of Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond" in the limited edition numbered collector's tin for $75 Is that worth it??? How good or bad is the audio and picture quality of this particular DVD edition of this film. Also is this version of the film uncut or is it that censored "7 Doors Of Death" edition?? Would $75 new be a good price for this as I've seen this tin go for a lot more money used on Ebay. Or am I just paying for a crappy quality version of this film housed in a pretty box???? |

I have this release and I thought the video and sound quality were really good for a DVD from 2000. It's presented in anamorphic widescreen 2.35:1 and it has numerous audio options: original mono, Dolby Digital 5.1, etc. It also has numerous extras. If the tin isn't something you're interested in, you may be able to find the regular stand alone release for a lower price. It had the same DVD that was included in the Tin without the tin case and the posters. It is the unrated cut of the film, and not the censored version.
Whether or not it's worth paying $75 for is up to you. While it's a really good release, I have the (corrected) Arrow release on Blu-ray, and its audio and video are superior to the DVD. Also, Grindhouse is supposedly releasing it on Blu-ray sometime soon, and if it's anything like their Cannibal Holocaust release, it will be a definitive edition. |

You can throw your money out of the window or you can buy this for $15 on Amazon and if you look around you can probably get it even cheaper.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Beyond-Lim...dition+tin+dvd I never buy in these type of shops, they are always grossly overpriced. Also these "limited edition" type of releases don't hold their value for long, especially not when a new format like Blu-ray supplants it. Why not get this looking far better on Blu instead of spending $70 on a tin box which you are going to have trouble selling on soon. Last edited by Todd Tomorrow; 08-12-2014 at 09:18 PM. |
