The Legacy (Arvingerne) - Blu-ray Forum

Arrow Films will release the first season of the Danish series The Legacy (Arvingerne) on 2 February 2015.

Crucially, this series was recently released in Denmark on DVD only.

It does appear that this series has 5.1 audio. I have contacted Arrow about this, to try and make sure they use DTS-HD MA 5.1 on this release, and not 2.0 audio. The Danish DVD appears to have Dolby Digital 5.1, and the Dutch BD release appears to have DTS-HD MA 5.1, so the 5.1 track should be available to licensors.

An amazing show have watched it all in Danish, mine is reasonably good given I spend so much of my time in Copenhagen. Would definitely recommend this.

Was also pleased to see the broadcasts on Sky Arts 1 (first was last week) are being shown without adverts so run through for the hour without interruption.

It does take a couple of episodes to set the scene but then really gets going across the 10 episode run.

Hopefully Arrow don't do what they have done with a number of other Scandinavian TV shows of list a BD but then cancel at last minute and do DVD only. There is a risk it is a phantom listing by Amazon as last time I looked the Arrow website said this was DVD only.

Thought I was seeing things when the pre-order listing pages appeared on Arrow's website (the UK branch) for a Blu-ray release of The Legacy, the second series of Lilyhammer and a French series called Witnesses.

Can remember though when it looked like the first series of Arne Dahl was going to get a Blu-ray release by Arrow's UK branch, then it ended up being DVD only (it was released on Blu-ray in Sweden).

As I posted earlier watched home recordings in Danish from start of year as can get about 80% with Danish subtitles as well. Will catch up in English when I get the BD.

Loved the show. It really illustrates the benefit of taking time to build a story over the 10 episodes. I think that most UK shows at only 5 or 6 episodes are too short for this. To a UK or US mind set it can seem a slow start over the first few episodes but you are hooked by half way. I do think watching over a period helps rather than binge watching in a weekend.

The discs in this release are all REGION B LOCKED. All episodes are presented with DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound, and optional, white font English subtitles.

Disc 3 includes two extras, a Q+A session in the UK, and a short interview with actor Carsten Bjørnlund, both of which are in 1080/50i with English: DTS-HD MA 2.0 audio.

Noticed on Amazon UK a pre-order listing page for a Blu-ray release of the second series of The Legacy. The release date stated at the moment is Monday 27th July.

My copy has arrived from Arrow, which means I can watch final two episodes before Sky Atlantic.

Same as S1 with 1080/50i and DTS-HDMA 5.1 audio
Only two disks this time as 8 episode season

There were some other Arrow titles I was more interested in pre-ordering, but will get The Legacy: Season 2 Blu-ray set at some point. Of what I've seen of the Season 1 set, was very pleased by the transfer.

I pre-ordered from Arrow in the recent sale as although not discounted you got 20% back in reward points, so cheaper than Amazon plus you get earlier.

Crucially, this series was recently released in Denmark on DVD only. It does appear that this series has 5.1 audio. I have contacted Arrow about this, to try and make sure they use DTS-HD MA 5.1 on this release, and not 2.0 audio. The Danish DVD appears to have Dolby Digital 5.1, and the Dutch BD release appears to have DTS-HD MA 5.1, so the 5.1 track should be available to licensors.

Would definitely recommend this. Was also pleased to see the broadcasts on Sky Arts 1 (first was last week) are being shown without adverts so run through for the hour without interruption. It does take a couple of episodes to set the scene but then really gets going across the 10 episode run. Hopefully Arrow don't do what they have done with a number of other Scandinavian TV shows of list a BD but then cancel at last minute and do DVD only. There is a risk it is a phantom listing by Amazon as last time I looked the Arrow website said this was DVD only.

OceanBlue Blu-ray Baron Member since:Sep 2013 Location:Midlands, UK	Thought I was seeing things when the pre-order listing pages appeared on Arrow's website (the UK branch) for a Blu-ray release of The Legacy, the second series of Lilyhammer and a French series called Witnesses. Can remember though when it looked like the first series of Arne Dahl was going to get a Blu-ray release by Arrow's UK branch, then it ended up being DVD only (it was released on Blu-ray in Sweden).
