Looking forward to this, I've had it in my Amazon.de wish list for months now, just hadn't made it around to buying yet.
I remember years ago seeing it on network television, I can't recall now, was extra footage added for the tv broadcast version? |

I am actually surprised that Nick Redman didn't want this for TT since he admires Peckinpah's work. (Although this isn't Sam's finest hour) I'd almost bet he passed on the title. I'm sure they could have secured it a long time back otherwise. (I love TT's releases)
I still need to buy this movie though, always been curious about it. |

Cool announcement. This was frequently requested when I worked at an indie video store, and always a bummer that it wasn't available in decent quality.
I think of Peckinpah's catalog similarly to how I do Ashby or Altman's despite the tonal and genre differences, in that the lesser films after their initial amazing streaks are still interesting, and add to our understanding of their artistry. |

Never having seen the film before watching the SC disc, I thought it played just fine and was a more attractive looking film than I expected.
Looking at the comparisons, I think the color looks truer in some of the Kino caps, and the last cap of Borgnine looks clearly superior in the Kino to me. Others not so much though, and the compression on the Kino in line of police cars at night (cap 6) is noticeably poorer than the SC. In past years I might have popped for the Kino just to sate my curiousity. I can no longer afford to up and sidegrade willy nilly like I used to, so I'll probably just make do with the SC from here on out. |

Mike Siegel confirmed, via a Facebook comment, that he is “producing a ton of new extras for the new 2024 blu ray release…” of “Convoy”. It’s likely to be an Imprint release just judging from their past Peckinpah releases or StudioCanal could potentially be doing an UHD (or both).
