Warner Bros San Andreas 3D Blu-ray (2015) [Region Free]

Trailer looks like it's gonna be a fun spectacle and it co stars Alexandra Daddario so that's a no brainer as far as I'm concerned! I really enjoyed the director's previous movie Journey 2 The Mysterious Island and it had great 3D. Hopefully this will be more serious in tone and with more spectacle. It might look a little bit 'seen it all before' but it'll be nice to have a big epic 3D disaster movie. 2012 would have been great in 3D, so would Into the Storm. At least this one is embracing the format and will hopefully make good use of it.

Nice intro trailer, thanks Levcore.
Thanks for the info that this is the same director of Journey 2, which has very good, high medium 3D most times with some great pop outs now and then.

I agree, 2012 would be awesome in strong 3D with John Cusack, and San Andreas with The Rock will hopefully match the 3D quality of Journey 2.

Nature vs Mankind:
Scientists predict a major earthquake of major devastation is overdue in California based on the fault line of the earth's plates deep under the ground, shifting slowly. They've been predicting that for over 20 years though.
In the end, the earth doesn't care one way or the other about humanity or the life on earth, Nature's going to do whatever it does without regard.
Just like a giant meteor could miss the moon and smash into the earth like a major atomic blast, destroying most life on earth.
Or the sun shooting off a major sun flare, creating a massive EMPulse that would disable all electricity on earth.

Hopefully not, but possible...

Special effects look solid here.

Good remarks dude. I love these kinds of movies, i mean Twister is my alltime favourite man vs nature movie, i truly love it and all of its cheesy charms.

Into the Storm is released to buy in the UK today, so i'll be picking that up, i thoroughly enjoyed it at the cinema. I still think there's plenty of scope for good disaster movies. I enjoyed 2012 but it felt almost too massive, like it didn't really have much focus because it was so global.

Thanks. I had to watch 2012 again. That movie wasn't afraid to squash people left and right, including major characters. I actually loved the epic scope of the earth's plates crumbling from the core's rising heat, somehow instigated by the Sun's flares.

If San Andreas can offer that kind of destruction in the movie in strong 3D, that would be something. Looks like The Rock (Johnson) is a rescue pilot in this one, which is a good reason that he would stick around amid the disaster instead of getting out of town. I remember in the 2nd trailer they said the east coast could feel the shock wave.

Let me know how you liked Into the Storm. Too bad it wasn't 3D, I would have seen it.

I also didn't see The Day After Tomorrow.
Did see Deep Impact with Elijah Wood. It was okay. Not as exciting as I was hoping.
The Day After is a slow, but very good post nuclear explosion movie with Jason Robards as a doctor living in the radioactive wasteland, though it's from a realistic point of view, so no action.

I'm not one to go to theaters (dirty, noisy, smelly, expensive and I can't pause the movie when I have to pee, etc.), but San Andreas is right up my alley. I love stuff like this, but on Memorial Day weekend I plan to be riding roller coasters at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania.

I might go see San Andreas in 3D, but only if the reviews are good. I can go the week after Memorial Day.

As far as 2012 is concerned, I enjoyed the first two-thirds of the Roland Emmerich schlockfest. Once the refugees travel to the Himalayas to board the "submarine/arks," the story goes down the tubes faster than my daily movement. The earthquake scenes are incredible, and John Cusack and Woody Harrelson are awesome in 2012.

It's good to see Dwayne Johnson doing movies like Hercules 3D and now San Andreas 3D. When he played the lead role in the movie "Tooth Fairy" I figured that would be the end of his acting career. Glad I was wrong.

Yeah, the Tooth Fairy for The Rock, Hulk Hogan in Mr. Nanny, Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, and Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop. Diesel got the worst of the fan fallout. Hogan wasn't that big in film.

Hopefully San Andreas is an exciting disaster movie.

Received my copy today in the UK and just watched it. For me it's the pinnacle of the disaster movie genre. The 3D was good and I feel added to the movie.

Getting jurrasic in 3d.

Pixels too if it aint 30.
Nov got terminator.

Is the 3d version worth the 30 bucks ??
I'll buy it for the hefty $27.99, as I saw this twice in theaters and enjoyed both shows. The 3D was worth it from my experience. A lot of high medium 3D layering throughout. Looks great in 3D.

Cool. I know you have high standards for 3D, so hearing this from the 13thman is definitely a plus. I agree, 3D was great as was the chaos of the film.

This disc is a real knockout in terms of picture and audio, fantastic 3D, great transfer and real bone crunching sound. The movie could be better and i wish it didn't employ some of the very tired cliches it uses but that aside it's great big budget entertainment throughout and the 3D is really nicely done.

I'm really looking forward to buy it today, i saw this movie in IMAX 3D and was impressed with the 3D on a huge screen.

Watched this last night in 2D (picked up the Target steelbook) and without a doubt this is my go to demo disc for the incredible Dolby Atmos mix.

I remember that movie very well, watched it with sensurround _ I was 9 years old !
I'm sure that I would find the special effects of it very antiquated by today's standards, I remember one of the building being distorted optically causing it to twist _ very phony !
Ava Gardner was Lorne Greene's daughter and was married to Charleton Heston.
The fact that Ava played Lorne Greene's daughter was hilarious, Ava was born in 1922 and Greene was born in 1915.
Who ever cast that movie should have had their math and eyes checked !

Quick question: watching this on my PS3, 7.2 system. The English track on the 3D disc is Atmos but should downmix to Dolby True HD right? For some reason, it says it's only Dolby Digital on my PS3 audio indicator. Any ideas?

PS3's will only do Dolby Digital when playing 3D it won't do anything higher.

PS3 doesn't decode Dolby True HD when watching a movie in 3D, But it does decode a DTS-HD track while watching 3D. Lame, it's been one of my biggest gripes with the PS3 and the reason why I bought a Panny 3D player.
