I had that happen just the other day. My shipment from Amazon was sent via USPS. They delivered it to my next door neighbor's house which is a neighbor from hell. (Long story, but his pit bull attacked my son) I walked right over there and picked them up off of the porch. The USPS is NOTORIOUS for screwing up in regards to delivering packages in my area. |

Usually where we are we'll deliver it to the person it's meant for. If the neighbours don't inform you that they've got the package the best thing to do is to contact the company and say it hasn't been received. Couriers often throw things into the wrong yards in the UK and the residents don't even know they're there! One person even had a desktop PC delivered to the kerbside!

Thanks for the input guys/girls. It was only a Blu-ray and videogame I ordered from Hastings so the value is only about $30. I'll probably just re-order and save my time being productive elsewhere.
I contacted Hastings and they said it is out of their hands as soon as the post office takes it. |

Loving Amazon's shipping service right now. Left a package outside on the main street right on top of the call box where anyone could walk by and take it. Luckily it was still there when I checked outside after not finding it at my apt door or in my mailbox.
Also had DHL ask me to deliver packages to other apts in my building once when I went down to meet them and get mine. |

The only thing I don't like(Amazon was first, now others use it) is FedEx Smartpost. I have two houses up here(share one with relatives). Often large items I prefer shipped to one of the houses, unless I know it is USPS.
One house sits by itself, about a mile from a neighbor. Since we store farm equipment on the property (not always ours), somebody is likely there everyday...some part of the day. 2nd house sits in a small alcove neighborhood. USPS delivers to main road, so large things get a note...pick it up. Issue is, FedEx and UPS often "can't find the house", so they "attempt it three times" then call me to pick up at the hub. FedEx SmartPost has the option of self delivery, or hand it to the post office. One house, SmartPost goes through Detroit. The other goes through Franklin Park, IL. The houses are 10 miles apart, with less than 1.5 in east/west...yet are addressed as two different towns(same actual county). Sucks when, anymore, you can't choose an address and expect a delivery the way you want it. Like high dollar items. SmartPost was chosen...ended up FedEx kept it, and the driver found the house...and left it sitting. Would have preferred that it sat 3 days at the post office. |
