Default A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun

I've recently gotten into watching these series, and checked the database to see that all of ACMI was released this past year, and Season 1 of ACSR will be released soon. My question is, for those who have the ACMI releases, do they include the bonus OVAs? If not, will the ACSR have them? Are they licensed at all in North America? I'm talking about the following:

A Certain Magical Index
-A Certain Magical Index-tan
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 2
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 3
-A Certain Magical Index-tan 4

A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion
-A Certain Magical Index the Movie: The Miracle of Endymion...Happened or Maybe Not?

A Certain Scientific Railgun
-Being a Photo Shoot Model Under the Sun Isn't Easy, You Know
-Since Misaka-san Is the Center of Attention Right Now...
-MMR: Much More Railgun
-MMR II: Much More Railgun II
-MMR III: Much More Railgun III
-MMR IV: Much More Railgun IV

I didn't see a thread on these shows, so any discussion on plot, video/audio quality of releases, etc. is appreciated. Would love to have them on blu, but I know that often those bonus/specials/OVAs aren't released domestically, which is a shame.

The Index-tan stuff is not included and it looks like the rest won't be either.

Well, boo. Thanks for the quick response. If there's one thing that frustrates me about anime/domestic releases of it, it's that 90% of the time, you're not getting all of it. A release of a series isn't complete if there are OVAs or specials out there that aren't a part of the set. Complete means 100%. Is it really that difficult to license all of the specially-produced episodes/shorts, or is it that North American companies don't think it's worth it because the fans won't care?

Are the two shows actually related to one another, or do they just have similar sounding titles?

They are related. They are set in the same city and the characters appear in each others shows. There is even a particular event which is covered from different perspectives in each show. Technically, Railgun is a spin-off from Index, as far as the original source material is concerned at least.

And I watched Railgun first, having no idea what that there Index show was

But then Index showed up, and I knew it was more than just a random cameo.

Well the source material for Index is done if I remember correctly but it is still going for Railgun.

There is a manga A Certain Scientific Accelerator, but not sure if that will be made into an anime or not.

Hm, interesting! Railgun is the one that I'm personally more interested in.

The first Season of Railgun ends nicely and I didn't know at the time there was a Season 2. It has been a while since I watched S2 so I can't remember how that ended.

North American anime distributor Funimation will screen A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion film for free in Alamo Drafthouse theaters in Texas, Virginia, New York, and Missouri on Monday:

Winchester, VA – 7:00 p.m.
Kansas City, MO – 7:30 p.m.
Loudoun, VA – 7:00 p.m.
Yonkers, NY – 7:00 p.m.
Lubbock, TX – 7:30 p.m.
Houston, TX (Vintage Park) - 7:30 p.m.
Austin, TX (Lakeline) – 7:00 p.m.

Two more theaters in Texas will screen the movie later this month:

Katy, TX (Mason Park) - January 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Richardson, TX - January 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Funimation describes the film's story:

Welcome to Academy City, a futuristic metropolis populated with super-powered students. As the brightest intellectual minds in the city work to complete the world's first space elevator—a towering spire capable of taking citizens into the heavens—perpetually unlucky Kamijo and nun-in-training Index befriend a talented street musician named Arisa. When the beautiful singer lands a big break, her miraculous voice attracts unwanted attention, making the songstress a target for magicians and scholars alike. As the battle between sorcery and science blasts into space, Kamijo, Index, and their allies in Academy City are rocketed to a psychedelic stadium thousands of feet above Japan in a desperate attempt to keep Arisa—and the rest of the world—safe. Science fiction and fantasy collide in this action-packed feature film set in the shared universe of A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun! - See more at: http://www.funimation.com/blog/2015/....TFSb1YTl.dpuf

Funimation will release the film on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on February 17.

Although I am amused at the image of Uiharu flipping up Saten's skirt for a change.

Unfortunately I work Monday nights. I was just at the Drafthouse last night to watch Blade Runner, too.
