Import the German release from Amazon UK, you can get it for a pretty good price and transatlantic shipping is much cheaper there than Amazon.de. It's definitely compatible with Region A players.

The picture quality and 5.1 dts-ma track are excellent. I have read that the import of Breakin' on the other hand is pretty awful and I hope Shout have managed to mint a new master from the original negatives and it gets the release it deserves. Hearing "Reckless" in lossless 5.1 should be awesome.

What I'd REALLY love to see is the long lost documentary "Breakin' and Enterin" that Turbo and Ozone did the year before Breakin', where they were themselves and walked and talked (and danced) the viewer through this new form of performance art. Ice-T was interviewed as well. If I had to guess, this low-budget doc. was probably what got them the attention from the studios to make a movies. Even if it's just a low quality version as a special feature on the disc, it's still be a welcome feature.

Wow, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw a Breakin' Double Feature in the pre-order list on the main page just now. Wow. Great news! Guilty pleasures indeed...

Yep. That was my initial hope if these ever got released on Blu, that we'd get a Triple Feature with Beat Street too, like the DVD that just came out last week. Hope it's on the horizon separately at some point.
