CW Seed's "Vixen" (Season 2)

A Vixen animated series based on the DC Comics character is coming to The CW Seed initiative.

The series expected to come this Fall, and it will feature into the worlds of Flash and Arrow. The project is being shepherded by Arrow's Marc Guggenheim.

Originally from Africa, Mari's parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family's Tantu totem, Mari can access the powers of animals -- anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family.

Details:

+Guggenheim refers to the Vixen animated series as a spinoff, that will feature characters that currently appear on both Arrow and The Flash. Guggenheim also adds that the series will be a 6-part origin story for Vixen.

+One fun scene Guggenheim teased was that Oliver (Stephen Amell) will find out that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) kissed Barry (Grant Gustin) in the animated series. Guggenheim says fans have been asking him for quite sometime whether Oliver would ever find out about that.

+Vixen will have a "big magic component"; something not previously explored on either Arrow or Flash.

+Here's what Guggenheim had to say about the animated series serving as a backdoor pilot of sorts for a live-action introduction of Vixen on Flash or Arrow. "We always say "never say never," and if the character resonates with people, that would be wonderful. I would love to be in a position where CW said to us, "Hey, we want a 'Vixen' live-action show." That'd be wonderful. We'll have to sort of see how things play out. But our goal really is to produce the highest-quality animated series. We want people to come to this who don't normally watch an animated show. We really want fans of "The Flash" and fans of "Arrow" to go to CW Seed. We really tried to approach it the same way we approach a pilot."

+As far as the characters from the live-action shows voicing their animated counterparts in Vixen, Guggenheim says many of the actors are just finding out about the project for the first time but the response from them has been encouraging so "all signs are good".

The voice of Vixen has been cast, finally! Megalyn Echikunwoke, known for her roles on the 4400 and CSI, will be voicing Mari McCabe.

I enjoyed "episode" 1. Has a mature vibe to it and it was awesome to hear the same score from The Flash & Arrow in this. I want more!!!!

I just watched all 3 episodes. Pretty good. Too bad they are only a few minutes long. Also, thought it was awesome that Amell and Rickards from Arrow and Gustin and Valdes from The Flash are reprising their rolls (voice) for this show.

Episode 1 of season 2 was quite good. Even though it'll only be a few episodes I will be enjoying Vixen season 2

season 1 was decent, I'll wait until all 6 episodes are up and spend 30ish minutes watching the whole thing then instead lol
