Wolfcop
![]() As a series of strange and violent events start happening, an alcoholic policeman realizes that he has been turned into a werewolf as part of a larger plan, so he investigates with the help of his partner and his friend. Great throwback to the classic 80's Horror Comedies. Great soundtrack too, but unfortunately BDinfo reveals this disc is both 1080i 50hz and lossy audio. This is completely unacceptable in this day and age for a new release movie Accent. Code:

Yet another in a string of locally released new release titles given interlaced transfers and/or lossy audio. For enthusiasts (and let's face it, most people buying Blu-ray as opposed to DVD are home theatre enthusiasts) whose purpose for buying Blu-ray is to get the best picture and sound quality and an accurate representation of the director's intentions and/or theatrical experience this sort of crap is just plain amateur hour stuff. For me (in order of preference):
1. OAR and original frame rate 2. Lossless audio (including original) 3. No unnecessary digital tinkering with the picture 4. Decent bitrate 5. Special features (new for new releases and legacy features for older titles) 6. Decent artwork 7. Good price Honestly, the first two are my priority and should be completely achievable for ANY company releasing a disc. The thirds can be trickier for catalogue titles from smaller distributors but it can still be something they could focus on. The fourth is also achievable. The last three can be more problematic but you can bet I'd be willing to overlook any small issues with the last three if the first 3 or 4 were nailed 100%. Unfortunately of late a number of smaller distributors (Gryphon, Umbrella and Pinnacle) and some larger ones (Roadshow and Sony/Universal) have been taking some large missteps with new releases which is concerning considering they're made right now with materials prepped for a Blu-ray release around the world. |
