Default Mr.Mercedes

Quote:
David E. Kelly, best known as creator of Boston Legal and Ally McBeal, but who also penned horror-comedy fav Lake Placid, will adapt Stephen King’s 2014 novel Mr. Mercedes as a limited television series for Temple Hill Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment.

To be directed by Jack Bender (Lost), Mr. Mercedes concerns a man who kills eight people by plowing into a crowd with a stolen Mercedes and the retired cop who vows to hunt him down. Kelley says, “This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world’s most acclaimed and accomplished authors. Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don’t mess it up.”

There’s no projected premiere date just yet, but King’s second Mercedes novel, Finders Keepers is out this June.

I enjoyed Mr. Mercedes and think it could work well as a limited series. I just hope they stick with it just being a limited series and follow the entire book and not leave it open for another season like they did with Under the Dome. I would think they wouldn't try to make it more than a limited series since King is planning a Mercedes trilogy but you never know what could happen if the series is a hit.

I just bought the DVD, no bluray release. Season One is one of the best TV adaptations of a King novel.

11.22.63 was awful.

Bought a screener copy off of eBay, so I'm happily plowing through this show now; just finished the 3rd episode last night. Disturbing, but in the best possible way.

I had a screener too and loved it and decided to buy the DVD as well.

Great show, almost as good as the book.

Everyone was nearly cast right except for Jerome. In my mind from the book the guy cast as Jerome didn't seem right to me.

Damn this looks fantastic. I read the novel and it was awesome. It finally looks like they'll be making a decent Stephen King adapted series after all (RIP Under the Dome).

Under the Dome was kinda ok.

Nothing really followed the book.

Season One had it's moments.

Season Two sucked.

Season Three was very good.

The book was great if they only followed the book it would have been a great series.

I'd give it a C+ to B- [edit meant to say B-]

The great Stephen King movies always follow the book: It [movie and TV series], Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption.

I never read Green Mile but the movie in the column of great King.

I never liked the book Carrie but the movie was a whole lot better.

I feel like UTD would've been absolutely amazing if it would have been on HBO and followed the original material much more closely. Ah, what could've been...

Is Bill Hodges Irish in the books? I really think this show works so well because Gleeson gets to do his abrasive Irishman shtick that he just does so well rather than pretending to be American or English like he's called on to do so often in Hollywood, gives the character real bite and charm imo and there are lots of little touches that are kind of authentically "Irish" (the foul language and the way he insults people, and him ordering a Midleton's at bars instead of Jameson/RedBreast, etc, although how the bartenders know what the **** he's going on about I don't know), that I do wonder if they're just details Gleeson himself has added.

IF only season 1 was available on Blu-Ray or 4K Blu-Ray not on DVD or it least not just on AT&T or Direct TV audience. Sucks for the people who really want to see this series not sure how the audience are when it is exclusive for people who only sign with AT&T.
