**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT!**
Two tales of supernatural Italian-made shenanigans are both coming to blu-ray for the first time! 1988’s GHOSTHOUSE (directed by Umberto Lenzi of Nightmare City and Cannibal Ferox fame) will be doubled-billed with WITCHERY (which sports Linda Blair AND David Hasselhoff!?) for a planned June 30th release. Pre-order links should go up next month. link |

These movies were made to capitalize on the huge popularity the first 2 Evil Dead Movies had in Italy back in the eighties. Indeed, "The Evil Dead" (in Italy: LA CASA) and "Evil Dead II" (In Italy: LA CASA 2) were such huge hits here that they made these two movies (and many others) as "sequels":
Ghosthouse, in Italy re-christened "LA CASA 3" and Witchery, in Italy re-christened "LA CASA 4" When I was a kid, I always wondered what was the exact "continuity" running inside the series and connecting these later movies with the first 2, until the time I found there was none of it and the movies were not true sequels. ![]() |

Watching Witchery now, this b!tches voice is getting on my last nerve. Why would Hasslehoff even being trying to get with her haha.
Maybe I should have started with the first film. This one is ludicris with a screenplay that is redic bad. |

I prefer Ghosthouse over Witchery, Ghosthouse had better gore I thought. Plus it had that that reaper guy at the end.

I put a couple tracks from Piero Montanari's soundtrack for Ghosthouse on my trick-or-treat playlist and am reminded once again how great his score is. I would not be surprised if, a couple years from now, we see some kind of 4K + CD release for Ghosthouse. And I'll probably buy it

Over the summer I was able to visit the house from Ghosthouse / House By the Cemetery. My friend and I were lucky enough to actually get invited in by one of the resident artists and get a brief tour, including the attic. One cool thing we noticed was that there was an original promo 8x10 from House by the Cemetery over the mantle.
