I dont know about anyone else, but Im pretty excited for this film. Proyas (of Dark City and I Robot fame) hasnt directed a film since 2009's Knowing (underrated by the way).

Real IMDB link.
Proyas has me interested, but another Egypt movie full of white people does not. Edit: Oh, Jaime Lannister's in this. |

Always up for a historical epic as long as it isn't PG-13. You'd think the mediocre/poor performance of recent PG-13 historical epics would tell Hollywood PG-13 doesn't guarantee bank for this genre.

The trailers really put the dire into dialogue. I can't decide whether this is really late for the last wave of mythology films or really early for the next, either way it looks depressing for fans of Proyas

Gerard Butler is horribly miscast in this. He basically just looks like he's playing Leonidas again. Why he'd agree to do that is beyond me. Overall the movie just looks terrible. Like a poorly done teen book adaptation or something. It's hard to believe this is coming from the same director who made Dark City, but then again, he also made Knowing, so yeah.

I love Ancient Egypt and wish we had a lot more movies set in this period. For example I absolutely loved Exodus. That said I'm a big fantasy and vfx fan so an fx heavy ancient Egypt adventure is right up my street.

Some of this looks cheesy in the vain of the Mummy sequels, so I'm down for it. |

It's sad when once-good directors have to use a crummy script and make an expensive movie which showcases poor special effects. Why would the director of The Crow, Dark City and I Robot dig his own grave? Also an Egyptian director who has to hire all whites for an Egypt movie. Did someone put a gun to Proyas' head?
I really hope Deadpool sets the bar for trying to make good action for cheap and without relying too much on special effects to sell the film. |
