Default What's your fave Rambo sequel? (not "best", just your fave)

Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)

Rambo III (1988)

Rambo (2008)

Do your choice and tell us why.

While First Blood is far and away my favorite of the series, I'd have to go with First Blood part II. He seems to maintain more of his character from the first one, it's taken pretty seriously and we get to see him in action in a war setting using those cool guerrilla tactics.
Part III seemed more hammy and with unrealistic action bits. The last one went too far with the gore and explicit content. I stopped watching after 30 min. When I saw a rape scene and exploding bodies, I was out.

It's nearly impossible for me to choose, as I love them all. But I'll have to go with Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), simply because I've enjoyed that one the longest. Rambo (2008) is a very close second. Rambo III (1988) is probably the least serious film of the lot, but still a great and highly entertaining film. There's not a bad one in the bunch, IMO.

Rambo (2008) is the only First Blood sequel that I personally have any time for. Photography was pretty good and it was a highly entertaining, rather grim thrill-ride. I only own want to own the original and the 2008 film.

This one and only because this is the only one that I remember, LOL.
The story was great and especially the violence in it.

Rambo II is the best sequel, III is solid if nothing spectacular, and I didn't really like the fourth one all that much. The first is still by far the best of the bunch.

Agreed. The best sequel for me, by far.

I like Rambo III the most. It's the one I grew up on. Nostalgia makes that one win.

First Blood is the best though. And John Rambo is second best. It's damn near perfect of a sequel if it wasn't for some very clunky dialogue and scripting of some of the characters.

This is actually a question?

Rambo: First Blood Part II is my favorite of the sequels by a long mile.

I was 13 years old when Rambo: First Blood Part II came out, and it was the first R-rated movie that I went to see at the theater. Everything about this movie just rocked my world, and it was all that my friends and I talked about for a long time. If you were not around at the time, then you would not believe how popular this movie was and how ubiquitous it was with pop culture that summer. They even had a Rambo bubble gum for sale in stores at the time. It tasted terrible, but it was still Rambo bubble gum, and, therefore, it rocked.

1. The big Soviet MIL helicopter was so awesome. I had never seen anything like it before, and I had no idea that such a thing even existed. I wanted one as soon as I saw it. I still want one even now.
2. The scene with the dude getting shot with the explosive arrow rules.
3. The scene with Rambo outrunning the napalm barrel rules.
4. The scene with Rambo telling the Russian, "---- you.", rules.
5. Was there ever a better-looking woman than Julia Nickson (Co)? Nope.
6. The scene with Rambo shooting up all of the complicated computer stuff at the end rules. In fact, not a single damn day goes by when I'm not tempted to do that here in the office.

I love this sequel. Even thinking about it now makes me want to run outside, run through the woods, blow up random things, and yell, "Aaaaaaaaaaaah!"

I still think that the first movie, First Blood, is the best of the series by far, but Rambo: First Blood Part II is the best of the sequels and it's just as fun in so many ways.

So... Rambo: First Blood Part II... You not expendable!

Rambo (2008) for sure.

The two middle sequels are nearly unwatchable, in my opinion.

II and III both make a mockery of the concept of war and combat.

When Oliver Stone lambasts the trivialization/glorification of violence in movies by people who've never been near the real thing...this is what he's talking about. Not to mention the fact that they're both crammed full of absurdist 80s political propaganda and grotesquely one-sided caricatures of America's "enemies."

I get kind of embarrassed when I watch them.

That being said...they're just so much damn fun.
