Thumbs down Pirates At World's End with Samsung 1200

Just a heads up!
this disc is the same as Pixar shorts!
at least on the Samsung 1200 with latest firmware!

after the previews Jolly Roger comes on for you to choose Movie or menu
then thats all ye get!!! I know it's more a player issue, I have e-mailed Samsung here in Canada a few times since Pix Shorts came out, but I they haven't responded.

but I also wanted to mention this cheap case won't stay closed & all the centre tabs (what ever they are called) were broken for both discs! seems like quality control for this edition is nil.

Works fine so far on a Panasonic DMP-BD30.
I agree about the case. Not the same quality as the other ones.

Samsung seems to be causing all sort of problems with a lot of title... I mean if the title work everywhere but 1 brand, you gotta ask youreself some question..

Apparently repeated tries and yelling at the system worked.

Better check again and put down your victory flag.
People just found a "workaround" to play the movie on some models of PS3's.

The PS3 seems to be the most compatible player but it has it's share of playback issues.

I also like how some of you PS3 owners like to treat blu-ray supporters who have issues with their players.
Keep it up and you might help loose some blu-ray supporters that help keep Blu-ray alive by purchasing abundant amount of titles.

I can say that the 95 plays it without a hicup. It was not even very slow loading about 1 min from end of trailers to movie.

Don't know if this will help anyone with the 1200 or not, but on my BDP1000 it would not play until I tried a workaround as well. It would not load. Just kept getting the colored balls and after about five minutes it would eject with "Disc cannot be played" on the screen. I took another disc (LFODH) and loaded it (just to make sure it wasn't the player). It loaded and when it got to the menus I ejected the disc. Inserted the Pirates disc and it loaded up and played all the way without a problem. Again, it might or might not work on the 1200, but might be worth trying.

Mine is a lot different from the others. It has no problem at all at the beginning until chapter 16, everything just froze. I tried to turn my PS3 off and turn it back on again and I could watch like 5 more minutes then it froze again. I tried several times and even got the error msg like "this is an invalid disc".

I changed that 24 fps thing to automatic already but still have the problem.

My PS3 gave me problems at first with Pirates 3. It would get done with the Disney promo and wouldn't load the menu. I let the PS3 "warm-up" before starting the movie up. Then it worked fine.

Default New Firmware next week?

Just an fyi...

I recently spoke with Samsun customer service and escalated up their chain several links to speak with a gentleman very sympathetic to those of us at Samsung's mercy.

He "claims" that a corporate Samsung announcement puts the release at mid-January. The 15th (give or take)....

Everyone cross your fingers and do that "voodoo that you do"!!!

I called Samsung to complain about this problem and inquire about firmware update or fix. They told me that they can ship a CD for v2.0 firmware in 7-10 days and that 'may' fix it. I told them that I have already upgraded and the CS rep said that the website upgrade doesn't always work. Sounds like a delay tactic. Terrible!!

Unhappy

I'm feel sorry for all the people who have these Samsung players and continually have playback problems for their Blu-rays. I mean sure players are going to have the occasional hiccup, but Samsung players screw up everytime a new BD-J heavy movie comes out...EVERYTIME!!! And what makes it worse is they put out the firmware update after they find out about the problem!!!! If a rep from Samsung is reading this...GET YOUR F**KING ACT TOGETHER!!!!!! Because you wouldn't like if all your customers decided that their next Blu-ray player will be a Panasonic or a Sony.

End of rant. I'm stepping of my soapbox now.
