Text (edited) accompanying this picture:
Quote:
Future Release: PA 010 <Only Lovers Left Alive>

Plain and Art Service have announced partnership that would lead to Blu-ray releases under the brand Plain Archive.

The very first is Plain Archive No. 10, <Only Lovers Left Alive> by Jim Jarmusch. It shares our existing film selection rule of picking films featuring terrific actors.

The release date is May 2015. You’ll be able to witness a unique film driven by Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston.

Just like <Rust and Bone>, there will be two Keep Case editions available for purchase: Type A and B. Additional information will be provided in early April.

* The Blu-ray logo on the front cover of Type B won’t appear in the final product.

Thank you

Best regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE

On a personal note: this was one of my absolute favourites last year (I didn't see it until it was released on Reg B Blu-ray)!

Terrific movie.

If you are a collector of this type of thing(I'm not) and don't own this movie yet....

Get out your card. There is substance under the great packaging.

I was waiting for this thread glad it was created by the right user .

Hope you are getting some rest Bholst. I'm not too fussed on either cover at the moment. I'll take a while to decide on this one.

I COULD use a bit more sleep, but it isn't too bad so far

I like the colour scheme on A best, but B feels like it captures the essence of the movie better (especially the back cover ).

I'm sure Criterion is just as impressed with them as the rest of us, hopefully it shows Criterion what's really possible with a little bit of imagination and they step up their game.

Great film, it's still in my top ten of 2014 so far.
I'd love to own at least one of these packages, but money is a bit tight at the moment, so I have a question for others who've bought from Plain Archive before. What is the approximate shipping cost for one digipak or steelbook movie from them to USA for the major shipping options (EMS, 'K-packet' is another I think, etc.)?

I'm just now learning about these great Blu-ray releases from South Korea like Plain Archive, kimchi exclusives, etc. Maybe American companies should follow their example with collector's editions, albeit with higher print runs, to help keep physical media alive.

If I recall correctly, it's about $12 for one movie with the cheapest/slowest shipping speed, which estimates "12-60 days" but the previous preorder was my first time ordering with them, so I have no idea if that estimate skews closer to 12 or 60 lol. Someone with more experience might know

My suggestion is go to plainarchive.com and put stuff in your cart to get a feel for how much it costs and options for shipping, stopping short of submitting payment through PayPal (you don't have to buy).
Most of us here in the US have seen good shipping time from Korea to the US ISC sort centers, but since January it's been about 8+ days to leave those centers. All in all, you're most likely looking at ~2 weeks with standard shipping. I've never paid the extra for EMS shipping, so i cannot comment on that.
All that said, there have been a couple recent disasters with shipping (Her and Master steelbooks) for smaller groups of people here. But ultimately those issues fell on the carriers (USPS and Korea Post), not Kimchi or PA. PA was very diligent in the assistance of getting those packages found and delivered again.

Both times I've ordered from Plain, my movies have arrived in exactly 10 business days from when I got my shipping confirmation email.

Does it seem weird to anyone else that no more information has been posted about this? Additional artwork & images for Zero Dark Thirty were posted over a month before the pre-orders went live. With this coming out in May, one would assume the pre orders would start towards the end of April. That would leave us about 2-3 weeks until pre orders, and we still only have the two full slip box designs. No artwork for the case. No art cards/extras. No info on special features. We've only got the one post. I wonder why nothing else has been made available to us yet.

I was thinking the same thing but I think they're just biding a bit more time, we all know we get impatient when there's a long pre order to shipping phase haha. My guess is the week of ZD30 being shipped we get info.

Plain archive take there time with their releases. They are not like america or the UK where they have set release dates. They basically don't release anything until they are ready so we just gotta be patient.

These things are gorgeous, so many subtle details that just look amazing in hand. Plain's only competition is themselves as far as I'm concerned. As long as they keep producing printed art like this, I'll keep buying, the film is just a bonus at this point.

Default Only Lovers Left Alive, Plain Archive's Exclusive Blu-ray Edition No. 010

Updated collection pic with OLLA added. My OCD hates the fact that the two editions are on different shelves, but that's how it worked out.

Don't worry, Sugar Man is 009 and will be out soon with (probably) only one edition so it can take the first OLLA's spot ~
