Default Justice League: Gods & Monsters Blu-ray (Summer 2015)

Ummmm I am not digging these changes to Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. I thought this was supposed to the the 3rd movie of the New 52 JL but I guess it's it own "one-shot" kinda thing, so I assume the ending to JL: Throne of Atlantis was the set up for the 2016 JL animated flick.

I've gotta say, I don't care for really... any of these films but this one at least looks like it might be fun.

This is coming on July 28, and in addition to regular release, Warner will also release a Deluxe Edition.

This movie will have an original story, yeah? Vaguely recall reading something to that effect a few months ago.

Neat. Do you think the deluxe version will come out the same day or later (like in October ) like TDKR?

The said each year there would be two in continuity films and one outside. This is that one.

Stupid...I guess the BB Exclusive will be to give you a UV of a older movie.

I wish BB would have kept the Figurine Exclusive but I guess now anyone can get them.

Default Justice League: Gods & Monsters Blu-ray (Summer 2015)

I just started watching through some of my DC animated movies, I haven't bothered to watch them and have just been buying them, LOL.

Honestly, I don't see a lot of replay value in these. Am I alone here?

Of course, I thought Under the Red Hood and Dark Knight Returns were probably the best but I will probably only be keeping Dark Knight Returns, and maybe some of the Superman ones.

Superman is by far my favorite character but I was extremely disappointed in how gutted the Doomsday story was, I really wish that got two or three parts ala Dark Knight Returns.

Nothing is as bad as New Frontier, that was horrendous.

Thoughts?

New Frontier is great. Love the Silver Age renditions.

I think the biggest problem with most of the DC animated movies is that they try way too hard to be "edgy" with Saturday Morning Cartoon visuals and yet they slather gore, swearing and adult references all over every frame. All it really ends up doing is taking away the films audience, as its not longer right to let the kids watch it but ultimately still too kiddish for most to suddenly start caring for cartoons.

That's the best part, this isn't Pokemon.

Yeah, if you're still waiting to mature, but adult storytelling isn't the same as adding extra, artificial arterial sprays.

I think you hit the nail on the head. They're too adult for children, but too juvenile for anyone else to take seriously. And even if that doesn't bother one, the production values are so bad that the quality of the movies ends up extremely poor, with the mandatory 74 minute run times. I'm getting extremely tired of the formula the lazy hacks running the DC dtv's keep running though over and over- "edgy" violence mixed with endless, lame humor they think is so hilarious (Alfred makes a catty remark about Bruce's love life, camera holds so audience they screen it for at Comic Con can laugh).

It's why I didn't understand why everyone was so excited they're making The Killing Joke- whatever one's thoughts about the comic (and I am not a fan), if you love the source material you wouldn't want THESE people doing it- the fact that they said they're adding Harley Quinn to the story shows they have zero understanding of what made the comic work. I honestly feel like they're so used to the formula on these things (and I'm referring to Timm, Tucker) that they're just cashing a check and don't care anymore. Time to let the line die instead of the three a year forever- one bad JL, one even worse Batman and Damien, and then one okay entry is not sustainable.
