Default Road House - May 5, 2015 Re-issue

http://www.amazon.com/Road-House-Blu...rds=road+house

Anyone know anything about this? Same disc, new artwork? If so, seems kind of random to reissue it now.

What I wouldn't give for a proper remaster of this movie.

The new material is probably just an Ultraviolet code.

I can't decide if it's better or worse than the previous art. That one was no prize, either. But this one just looks off somehow. Dalton's head clearly is not proportioned to the body.

No prize indeed, but still much better IMO.

Wish this was actual cover art and not just something stuck over the case. It's really nice.

For once, the original poster art (assuming this is it) is even worse.

More:

Another poster (not bad, but no great shakes either)

DVD cover art

Every piece of "art" representing this movie has been complete and utter crap.

LOL. Is this even real?

Was the Kevin Smith commentary on the previous editions?

The original artwork bad or good, is still better than the photoshopped crap that is pumped out today.

I really do not like that 'pop art' looking cover, it doesn't fit the film at all.

My pet hate is studio's who create modern artwork for older films.

I slid mine into the Blu-ray case between the real cover and the plastic... looks nice and better than having it stuck to the cover (I also had to replace the Blu-ray case since mine arrived with shattered ends, the front looked sort of messed up after removing the card anyway).

I'm getting a weird religious icon vibe from this picture. "Our Blessed Swayze, Patron Saint of Tiny Hands" or something like that. Makes me wonder if they cut off his halo at the top. Definitely memorial in nature. Kinda creepy.

Listed here as AVC/MPEG-4 but is that based on official word?

I own Blu-ray with DVD combo pack and I brought $5 at Wal-Mart Black Friday 5 years ago and this is best movie. I probably pick up if any extra.

None of the 2015 MGM / Fox repackagings have been better discs. They've just had new art and digital copies.

Yep, got the German release last week, as I knew it would have reversible artwork. Same with the Commando Director's Cut (some people might be put off by the Phantom Kommando title on that one though).

Well guys, since no one else here was willing to pull the trigger, I took it upon myself to pick up a copy of the new disc at best buy just a few minutes ago. I did this because I am inclined to believe that the MPEG2 transfer that is listed on the back is a possible typo. This is completely possible because The Simpsons Movie has an MPEG2 transfer listed on the back case, but in all reality it is an AVC transfer. Here is a pic of the disc itself:

The disc actually has a 2015 copyright date on it, so it actually may be the new transfer. If I get the time to look at it before I go to work, I will let everyone know if it is indeed a new transfer, or just a port of the old one.

I doubt MGM spent money to do a new encode on Road House. I'm going to guess the only difference between this disc and the old one is new disc art.

If you just look at the back of the disc you should be able to tell whether it's a BD25 or BD50 by the number of rings in the middle with holographic text on them.

See this pic, you can see two concentric rings with holographic text, it's a BD50 - http://www.highdefdigest.com/blog/wp...n-Disc-Rot.jpg

Interesting, the disc that came with mine is different, with a 2009 copyright. I assumed it was the exact same disc as the previous release.
