I'm sure this will turn into a good riddance topic as I know these were never popular amongst 3D enthusiasts, but does anyone have actual news regarding Fox Searchlight or Lionsgate converting more of their already released films?
At one time Crank was in line for a conversion but I'm sure that is scrapped. After Predetor, did it die off? After JVC developed that conversion station I figured more companies would keep converting but aparently not... And hello old friends! |

Hi JSmith82. Long time since you visited the 3D forum. Welcome back hopefully.
![]() A lot of it boils down to sales. Was it profitable and worth converting and packaging these mild 3D movies for the company? I'm guessing they broke even or less. They had the technology to auto convert, though I don't think it offered progress for 3D in general, since the results were mild 3D in I Robot and much of Predator (compared to a manual conversion like Jurassic Park or Pacific Rim). If they keep developing the software to match what a human can do and create strong, believable 3D, then I'd be interested in more of these quick auto conversions in the future. |

IMO, semi-manual auto-quick conversion segments are in movies like Predator and Noah. JVC auto-conversion station type post-effect conversion seems likely in i-Robot, Jumper, Transcendance and My Soul to Take. Last edited by Paul H; 04-27-2015 at 12:32 AM.
