Default Rank the Jurassic Park films

1. Jurassic Word 5/5
2. Jurassic Park 4.5/5
3. The Lost World 4/5
4. Jurassic Park III 3.5/5
Jurassic World took the franchise to new heights.
[Show spoiler]Best dinosaur(albeit a hybrid), best dino/animal expert, best hottie and I love the military's idea of weaponizing raptors. I also loved how after all these years of waiting we finally got to see John Hammond's dream of a functional park realized, granted it was flawed and then trashed by the i rex.

Really? The awful CGI in 3 alone surely puts it on the bottom

1. Jurassic Park - 9/10
2. The Lost World: Jurassic Park - 7/10
3. Jurassic World - 7/10
4. Jurassic Park III - 5/10

The ratings reflect my opinion on their quality as movies, while the ranking reflects my enjoyment of them. Right now I feel like TLW and JW may be equally good, but I think I still like TLW more. I'll have to wait until I can rewatch JW at home before I can really say for sure where it belongs.

there's plenty of movies with bad CGI that are still good, especially from the 90s and early 2000s.

Where are the moderators? I find this thread to be highly offensive.

Jurassic Park (4.5/5)
Jurassic World (4/5)
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (3.5/5)
Jurassic Park III (3/5)

To be specific:
  • Jurassic Park: has always been effortlessly entertaining for me personally, but I can still appreciate it for how focused and witty the script is, how precise the cinematography is, how exaggerated and fun the performances are, and how deep the themes are concerning chaos and controlling nature.
  • Jurassic World: definitely expected worse, but the film is easily the biggest and funnest of the sequels. It still does a good job of showing the themes of chaos and things falling apart, and the film keeps it all light and fun. I also love how the film revolves around an actual working resort, rather than just having a bunch of people running around an island again. Product placements seemed to bother everyone, but not me.
  • The Lost World: Jurassic Park: never thought it was all that bad - there are cool scenes in it and it is still well-made. It just suffers a bit from having unlikable characters and a few really silly scenes. The gymnastics scene never bothered me much, but other scenes kinda do.
  • Jurassic Park III: was always disappointed in how dumb the characters are (except Dr. Grant), how silly some scenes are, and how the story is just more of the same with no series progression. But it does have good-looking scenes. A lot of folks have complained about the CGI and the Spinosaurous, but they don't bother me much; I actually think it has the sharpest-looking SFX.

Great list - I didn't read your synopsis of Jurassic World since I havent seen it

What has ALWAYS bothered me about III was how almost the entire movie takes place in the daylight. I remember being 13 and freaking out at the first movie because as the movie progressed - the night set in. Dinosaurs in the dark is WAY scarier (to a kid at least).
