Charlie returns to the East End after two years at sea to find his house demolished and wife Maggie gone. Everyone else knows she is now shacked up with married bus driver Bert and a toddler, and they all watch with more than a little interest at the trail of mayhem Charlie leaves as he goes about sorting things out.

This is tremendous news. I watched this originally as part of Studio Canal's London Collection box set and it really stood out then from a very strong range of movies in that set. Hopefully Barbara Windsor can be approached for an interview or commentary since she must have an abundance of stories about Joan Littlewood and the gallery of East End actors that appear throughout this terrific movie.

Not actually seen this before, so will pick this up blind, I like early 60's era of British films, one of my favourites being "The Bargee", hope that get's a BD release one Day, I always watch it at least once every Summer.

Apparently Paul Newman told Babs he loved this film, I've never seen it but that's definitely piqued my interest.

It's of historical interest to me, as it's the first A certificate film I ever saw at the cinema. I was 12, but quite tall, I can't say I remember anything about it (I can still remember the title song sang by Babs). I might buy it if it's a sensible price.
