I'm glad they ported over the extras from DVD [+ new]; watching Franco interviews is sometimes more amusing than watching his films and the Devil Hunter one is fun.

Cannibal Terror is pretty much the nadir of the cannibal genre, and mostly despised by all, but I still think it is somewhat entertaining. I'm trying to be nice and that's about as good as I can do.

Devil Hunter is great trash, though.

Not yet, but it was dispatched a few days ago. I live in the UK, though, so I expect mine will take a while.

Okay, mine arrived today and it's not even signed. Dafuq? That was ultimately what motivated me to buy it. Otherwise I would've just waited and bought it elsewhere.

Review is up at Mondo Digital:

On Devil Hunter:

Quote:
The HD transfer bears the title of El Canibal and looks about as good as it could, clocking in at its most complete running time of 102 minutes. The LPCM audio options include the usual English dub (with a fleeting bit of unsubtitled dialogue pulled in where no English audio was available) as well as the more natural Spanish track, albeit without subtitles.
On Cannibal Terror:

Quote:
The film was poorly dubbed in every territory in which it was released due to the international cast, so the uproarious Devil HunterEnglish dub (which in classic Lucio Fulci style uses an adult to dub the child lead) is about as legitimate as any. The French track is included for comparison as well, again without subs.
Also at dvdcompare.net

Quote:
Devil Hunter: While the Severin DVD featured the English and French tracks with optional English subtitles, Severin's 1080p24 MPEG-4 AVC 1.66:1 Blu-ray features English and Spanish (mislabeled French) LPCM 2.0 tracks and no subtitles. A passage roughly seventy-two minutes into the film reverts to Spanish briefly but there are no subtitles for this sequence either. The English dub is truly painful, with Mayans' character given particularly awful voicing.

Cannibal Terror: While the DVD only featured the passable English dub track, the Blu-ray features English and French dub tracks in LPCM 2.0 mono. The French is a tad cleaner, and it plays better in the language, but there are no English subtitles to accompany the track (although the story is easy enough to follow without translation for those who find Eurocine English dubs more painful than comical).
Great, thanks Severin. Even dubtitles would have been something, at least.

Wow, I can't believe they included foreign language tracks, but no subtitles! What's the friggin' point? That's just lazy (and cheap).

I received my copy. It looks like it is signed on the back at the very bottom. It is kind of small, and I can't really make out the name.

I resorted to holding the back cover up really, really close to my face and I still can't see anything. I guess mine slipped through and they forgot to sign it.

Was this recalled for lack of subtitles? It seems it has been OOS and on order at amazon way too long.

The special feature "Spirit of the B Hive" should have been in the Cannibal Terror menu, as the actor they are interviewing was in Cannibal Terror, not Devil Hunter.

Lot's of sloppy work on this release.

I haven't seen Devil Hunter in a long time but Cannibal Terror is an absolute piece of shit that is one of the worst films i've ever endured! i saw it on video at 14 and MY GOD it was the worst piece of shit i've ever sat through my entire life and i rewatched it online and MY GOD it sucks more ass than ever.

I mean horrible acting, bad production values, stock footage that pauses, poor writing, no entertainment value, no likable characters and all that. This movie is a loser! the worst film i've ever saw.

This movie is zero stars from me! an absolute loser.

Cannibal Terror is awful, I agree. The movie is hardly worth commenting on, but I spent some time on this disc the last few days, so before I file it away from memory, I'll say that the movie offered a few minutes of decent exploitation fare -namely the scenes of Pamela Sanford in the tub and then dancing after her rape to put the rapist at ease before her husband got revenge. So there was that. The thing I kept hoping for was a good view of the kidnapper lady int he white dress who wore heels no matter the terrain. That's a trait in ladies I can definitely appreciate, LOL! I found her pretty sexy despite the short hair, and was hoping she'd disrobe. She even had sex with a character, but stayed clothed, much to my annoyance. Damn you Deruelle and this p.o.s. movie you made!

These are two titles I hope Severin revisits at some point. The French/Spanish audio needs proper English subtitles and although 88 Films corrected the colour and contrast on DEVIL HUNTER, they didn't include the Spanish track at all.

I would dearly love for these to get a 4K reissure from Severin with corrected transfers and proper subtitles for the French/Spanish language tracks.
