why does universal insist on use dnr and edge enhancement when people hate it?

Most of my Universal stuff looks amazing.

Are there some terrible Universal transfers out there I'm not aware of? Most of the EE and DNR disasters I'm aware of seem to be coming from other studios.

Because your average movie buyer doesn't know any better. To them the lack of Grain and the "artificially sharpened" image "Looks better" to them. If you need any proof of that just look up the predator ultimate hunter edition thread on here and you will see ton's of people praising that steaming pile of post processing.

It's mostly older transfers that have been affected, their new releases and remasters look great, they just need to redo a few titles, so they're potentially 4K ready.

Does anyone else think that Universal is still a little bitter about HD-DVD losing the format war? Maybe that is why some of their releases are so poor.

Universal has been a hit or miss when it comes to BD transfers. Some transfers turn out ok and others are waxy messes. I'm hoping the Apollo 13 release that came out this year is a sign of things to come.
