Default Raid SATA hard drives

I was doing some cleaning and I unplugged the HDs but forgot that they were raid and which drive had which SATA cable. Does it matter? Also this has important stuff on it and I need to back it up due to personal reasons. I am paranoid that something will happen to it since it was my father's and has a lot of data that I need for various things like taxes.

I don't know much about RAID technology, but if you're using a adaptor card with SATA inputs, then yes it will make a difference, but if you're using RAID supported SATA inputs on your PC, I don't think it will, unless only certain SATA ports support RAID (your motherboard manual will have further information). Can you remove the drives and check them?

What type of RAID is it?
RAID 1 and you will probably be okay, it's just a mirror and just one drive alone will be fine.
Beyond that all I can say is maybe.
The older the device/motherboard and firmware the more likely it is to require the drives in a specific order.

If it does require the drives to be in a specific order then you might do damage to the data or array.
I've been there with my university work, my motherboard died over xmas break and I was lucky in the end the array worked even after getting a new board and setting it up.
Now I backup all critical information, especially if using RAID.

I believe it would be RAID 1 as it showed 1 drive when I used it before.

Unless partitioned afterwards it would always show as one drive.
