Clint Eastwood's 'Sully' - Starring Tom Hanks

Eckhart will play the co-pilot in the Warner Bros. film, which Clint Eastwood is Directing.

Aaron Eckhart is joining Tom Hanks in Warner Bros.' Captain Sully movie.

Hanks will star as Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who safely landed his plane full of 155 passengers in the Hudson after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese. The "Miracle on the Hudson" made national headlines in January 2009 and Captain Sully was deemed the "Captain Cool" by then-New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Eckhart will play Jeff Skiles, who was the first officer and co-pilot on the Airbus A320. He was manually flying the plane when the birds crashed into the engines. He helped Sully safely land the US Airways plane.

Clint Eastwood will direct the film, which will have a script by Todd Komarnicki, who is drawing from Sullenberger's life and memoir.

Warner Bros. is behind the movie, which is being produced by Eastwood, Tim Moore and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall.

For a minute I didn't read it properly and thought it was gonna be about the plane hijacked by those people in Africa who wanted to get to Australia despite not enough fuel, and I was like "Man, he really is getting typecast".

A little skeptical of Tom Hanks being Sully; this role seems tailor made for Eric Roberts so it's kind of odd how he's not playing the lead. Oh, well; Eastwood is a great enough director that I am excited for this nevertheless.

That doesn't take much to figure out. Eric Roberts is a brilliant actor who has never been able to really click with the public.
On the other hand, Tom Hanks is a major A-list STAR whose presence brings box-office business (except when he fools around with whimsical desert movies!.

Conclusion: Hanks sells tickets. Roberts does not. End of story.

And why exactly is this role tailor made for Eric Roberts? He wouldn't have even scratched my mind as possibilities for the role. It's fine if he would for you, but to go further than that to say it's tailor made for him and that it is odd he isn't doing it, really just boggles my mind.

Looking forward to this for Hanks and especially Eastwood, but I really dunno how they made a movie out of this story. I just hope it doesn't end up being a remake of Flight without the alcoholism angle.

I still don't get what story they're gonna fill a 90 mins + film with. This is a 15 minutes of fame news piece type story until I see a trailer or something else that convinces me otherwise.
