Might be pretty good. The real story (or look up Novaya Zemlaya) in incredible.

The reviews of this on IMDb wouldn't fill me with confidence. Which is a shame, because I'd like to see more historic dramas, and other types of films in 3-D.

Just received today from Amazon.uk for ~$12 shipped. It is in a white DVD case and I can confirm this is not a bootleg but the original disc.

Originally I was looking at the German version but that did not have English subs and this version does. Did not watch yet.

Last night I finally got around to watching Nova Zembla in 3D

The 3D was relatively conservative, but natural. I can't say that I was particularly impressed by the depth and there weren't many pop-outs but it's always good to see a natively shot 3D movie. Crowd scenes were the most impressive for depth and layering, while the best pop-outs featured the delightful Doutzen Kroes (on a swing and stretching her hand out of the screen). There was some subtitle clash when furniture etc spilled out of the screen but not much, it was perfectly watchable.

Default Nova Zembla

I watched this tonight. Fairly medium 3d throughout, strong in a couple of places, two strong pop-outs and a few milder front of screen bits. The story itself dragged a little in the second half but was interesting nonetheless. I liked it.

There's a guy that looks a lot like Joel Kinnaman at the end but he isn't credited so I guess not.

Cool! What audio languages are available on the 3D presentation? Does it have English subtitles?

Dutch and Dutch. It does have English subtitles (and Dutch). This goes for the flat, lifeless version as well.

Personally, I prefer subtitles to dubbing. The translations seem less silly and the acting more sincere.

Thanks for the info. I completely agree that subtitles are better than dubbing. Thanks for sharing.

Subtitles. That is a no brainer, unless you have vision problems

I think I got mine via Amazon UK but bol.com have it. It also turns up on ebay quite frequently. Just avoid the German release unless you can speak/read German.

Watched Nova Zembla 3D last night. Looks to be native. I enjoyed the story and original Dutch dialogue with English subs. No pops but very good depth throughout. Noticed some banding in parts but nothing drastic.
3D - 7/10
film - 6/10

does the French version has the same runtime as the Dutch one ? French is my native language so this is not a problem.

Looking at listings it appears to be about 4-5 minutes shorter but I suspect that is just the PAL runtime copied from the DVD.
