Default What could have been: The Amazing Spider-Man 3

This article dictates some pretty interesting concepts about The Amazing Spider-man 3 and what the movie would have entailed. Personally, it makes me quite sad to see my favourite superhero franchise gone. The two movies were mostly fine for what they were, better than some of the garbage from the MCU in fact. They had better, more interesting characters with better chemistry among them, and better focus on the story and themes, as sopped to some of the MCU films like First Avenger and Dark World that were more style over substance. As well, First Avenger felt way more like it was a franchise builder than ASM2. It was basically the bastard child prequel of Iron Man and Thor, as it seemed to focus more on those elements and on the villain's story than on Cap himself. Obviously there needs to be continuity among the movies but what makes shared universes and cross overs exciting is that that it only comes around every so often as a treat. Here, we already know how the movies connect before the Avengers even happens with each movie being basically a crossover in on itself. Captain America Civil War Might as well retile itself Avengers Civil war, as all but 2 Avengers show up in it. Except for at the end, ASM2 did not really focus much on franchise building. Sure, Peter and Gwen's relationship could have been maybe better built (with the shailene scenes put back in no less to cause more drama and challenge for Peter), and there was a lot going on, but it seemed to fit itself very well together overall. I seriously do not get people's problems with these movies.

Spider-Man is home at Marvel where he belongs. Who cares what could have been? Let's all celebrate the fact that we never did get an ASM 3 and that Spidey will be in the MCU for a long time. Look forward. Not back.

I agree that Spidey is back where he belongs and that's great but I would have loved to have seen this bat shit movie, I get a guilty pleasure out of Webb's Spidey films. The first film isn't amazing as its title suggests but it's of an acceptable quality to a lot of people. The second is almost universally reviled but I get a kick out of it.

I think Webb's Spider-Man films have had the most 'comic-book-y' aesthetic of all the superhero movies so far IMO. I feel like I'm watching a comic book on screen. It's kool.

But yeah, he's going home where he should be, but this article is still fascinating.

Yeah I really don't care about what ASM 3 would have been. The first one was an outright disaster in just about every way, and the second was just frustrating because there were things about it that were really good (mainly Spider-Man himself, in terms of web-slinging, bantering, fighting, costume/look, etc.), but most of it was just a trainwreck.

Spidey's with Marvel now and all is right with the world, here's hoping Jon Watts knows what the hell he's doing.

"It was the best of superhero franchises, it was the worst of superhero franchises - In short, the Amazing Spiderman was so far like the present Spidermen, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only" - Charles Dickens review for Amazing Spider-Man 1.

I think that's pretty much a given. It still feels like oversatuation, we're still just over three years since Amazing Spider-Man came out, five years by the time it's released. I think people will just be happy with having Spider-Man being a part of Civil War and Avengers over a standalone film.

I'm not happy about it at all, Amazing Spider-Man was 1 film away from becoming my favourite trilogy of all-time. Dang you Sony, way to mess up my favourite Marvel comic book character.

And having actually read the synopsis that sounds like THE stupidest Spidey story I've ever heard, and I read that Clone comics storyline back in the day! So the dude doesn't know how batteries work but he hits upon a formula to wake people from the dead?
