Gee, another article by NBC about how people who own PS3s buy them to play games and not watch movies. And Bourne Ultimatum. From what I saw at the retailers, even they were not expecting it to be a huge seller, with DVDs and BDs and HD DVDs of Harry Potter with 4 times or more shelf space dedicated to it than Bourne. Looks like Potter will be selling more. Target had at least two times the number of BD shelf space for Potter than HD DVD had, Best Buy looked about the same, but I don't know if they re-arranged their shelf space this morning and replenished their supplies as it looked like they had only sold one BD and no HD DVDs.

If you take the PS3 off the market there is no competition? you are full of bullshit my friend (directed toward the guy that wrote the article).
You CANT take the PS3 out of consideration. We here at blu ray (dot) com have had NUMEROUS polls about the usage of the PS3 and we only represent a small portion of the market. There is no way that you could factor that out. |

"Yet, if disc sales are any indication, Blu-ray is still enjoying a commanding lead: Nielsen/VideoScan says during Black Friday, Blu-ray disc titles made up 72.6 percent of all high-def disc purchases. About 27.4 percent for HD DVD titles."

I'm so sick of hearing the take PS3 out of the mix and there is no comp.
IT DOESN'T MATTER!!!! The title sales are so much higher, it doesn't matter how many players are out there. I can't wait till Warner does it's thing. So people can shut up about PS3 players. |

I already voted on this poll and glad to see the numbers being true blu.
I am so tired of various people in the industry on the red side saying that PS3 owners do not buy and watch movies. I have two PS3's and do not have a stand alone player. I have almost 100 movies. I know that I am not the only one, especially from various people on this site that have my same set up. I was suprised though today going into my BB and see that they have yet again changed the Blu Set back down to 3 sections, so back at the same 50/50 split with the Red Team. Though they did have two pallets of 80 and 40 gig PS3's on the floor when you walk into the store. Also, hate to say it, but the Red HP movies were picked over and the Blu was stocked (though the clerk could have just refilled it) and the Borne Movie was packed tight. Yes, this is just one store, but it is a high volume store here on the Eastside of Seattle. |

I have only a PS3 (no standalone), and I have over 50 Blu-rays now and I barely use it for gaming. I voted for Blu obviously, but I find it interesting and encouraging that an article as misinforming and biased as this one is making little difference in the poll. If people actually read the article, they'd vote for HD-DUD, but Blu still has a commanding lead! Go figure.
