Paramount Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : Out of the Shadows 3D Blu-ray (2016) [Region Free]

The trailer for this just came out and it looks like great fun. On a visual level the first movie was superb so i'm hoping for something as striking this time around. Also hoping for 3D as strong as the first movie!

I'm hoping for 3D stronger than the first movie's - I saw that in 2D first and really enjoyed it, it looked good in 3D at home in terms of depth and overall dimensionality but for me (as usual) there just wasn't enough pop-out.

There was no pop out on the first one.

What? Are we talking about the same movie? There were loads of pop outs in it. It even has a moment where Donatello's staff breaks the black bars to come further out of the screen.

I have to say that I didn't spot any pop-outs myself, other than the staff breaking the black bars near the end.

I was specifically watching out for pop-outs during the truck/snow scene (which I watched twice) but didn't see any - they must have been of the blink-and-you'll-miss-it variety.

So that's why I'm hoping for better 3D from the sequel, specifically pop-out 3D that I can actually notice.

That Tank shot in the trailer looks like it was made with 3D in mind. Excited to see it happen!

i agree TMNT was one of the best 3D movies in 2014 there were many pop outs. The whole sewer fight scenes and on top of the building the snow scene and there was more. One of the go to 3D BD

I remember seeing that in the theater in 3D. That was awesome.

Yeah, the 3D here is one of my in-theater favorites of 2014. I hope they have the same 3D team for part 2.

I'm sure it's as dumb as the first one, but the trailer is really good. Looks action-packed and fun-filled.

And it scores points for including a few moments that seem tailor-made for 3-D.

Saw this last night as well, really enjoyed it. I'd say the 3D was a bit better than the first but about the same. Me and my friend thought that the film itself was better than the first. So worth seeing for sure.

Thumbs up

Wow, the 3D was awesome in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows 3D and matches the strong 3D of Pacific Rim's strong 3D hybrid conversion. Prime Focus World was listed in the end credits, aside from the CGI stereographer of the film's CGI assets. Mostly strong 3D whenever the turtles were onscreen which was 90% of the movie compared to the last one. When offscreen, the 3D hits the medium, high medium range unless it was a CGI character onscreen, then it's back up to strong 3D.

I definitely agree that the airplane scene and water rapids look very strong in 3D. This team clearly cares about offering a great 3D experience. The 3D trailer had me worried, but as soon as the movie started, with the scene on the top of the building in NYC, the strong 3D put my mind to rest immediately.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows 3D
Theater: Cinemark XD 3D (comparable to Imax 3D)
3D Layers: 10/10. Strong 3D most of the time, some medium 3D. A+
3D Pop Out Count: 8/10. The jet scene has the most pop outs. Great.
3D Framing: 8/10. Most shots framed nicely for 3D with lots of layers to enjoy.
3D Conversion: 8/10. Live action segments look good in 3D. I didn't notice any big errors of the 3D conversion. Matches the CGI nicely most times.
3D Native CGI: 10/10. Animated, CGI characters with clearly strong 3D.
Theater's 3D Projection: Great and calibrated perfectly from Cinemark XD.
Total 3D Score: 10/10. This is the live action CGI 3D theatrical film to beat this year. A+ for the 3D.

New 3D Previews:
Monster Trucks 3D: January 2017 release. 3D is mild to medium at best. I'll probably pass but the driving monster segments look fun.

I saw this on Friday in imax 3d. Let me tell you...this was the best 3d I've seen this year! Had great depth and a handful of pop-outs! The movie itself was just as good as the first. I actually thought it was a little better. It was a nice touch to have this in imax!

The worldwide box office is going to have to carry the weight this time during the crowded box office summer. Last time, Turtles 3D released in August if I remember. This one was put right in the herd of big summer movies, so it's a tougher sell. From what I see, it's not playing everywhere yet.

Week 1:
Quote:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
Out of the Shadows 3D

Distributor: Paramount Release Date: June 3, 2016
Genre: Action / Adventure Runtime: 1 hrs. 52 min.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 Production Budget: $135 million
Domestic: $35,250,000 50.9%
+ Foreign: $34,000,000 49.1%
= Worldwide: $69,250,000
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...d=tmnt2016.htm
Here's the total of the first one's total:
Quote:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3D (2014)
Distributor: Paramount Release Date: August 8, 2014
Genre: Action / Adventure Runtime: 1 hrs. 41 min.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 Production Budget: $125 million
Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $191,204,754 38.8%
+ Foreign: $302,128,830 61.2%
= Worldwide: $493,333,584
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...d=tmnt2013.htm
$65,575,105 for week 1 on the first movie. August was less crowded in 2014 compared to June 3rd's 2016 release of part 2 with $35,250,000.

Yeah quite a drop off for the sequel on opening weekend. Wonder if we'll get a third. I'll wait for 3D blu ray for this one.

Sucks, the TMNT always gets the 3D right. The movies have been so/so but the 3D is so spectacular that they are must own and must see. I really don't understand people who watch movies in 2D rather than 3D.

Alice and TMNT were very average movies that had I watched in 2D I would have been extremely disappointed but in 3D that are visually dynamic. The recent run of BvS, CA, Alice, X Men, and TMNT have been great for 3D fans, they have been getting 3D right lately.
