Warner Bros The Legend of Tarzan 3D Blu-ray (2016) [Region Free]

The trailer just came out for this and it looks sumptuous on a visual level. Should be a grand old fashioned adventure movie. Here's hoping for some amazing 3D with it.

Thanks. Looks interesting. Christoph Waltz as the villain, good stuff.
The CGI is well modeled, though the animation looks animated for the human characters instead of motion captured, but still good enough for me to enjoy the movie if it's entertaining.

Scenery looks great for 3D, with the jungle setting. Hopefully they have a CGI jungle set up if a 3D conversion is needed to make things easier.

Another possible method if it's a real jungle, is to digitally map out every leaf and tree in a 3D computer animation program after filming is done, matching a virtual CGI stereo 3D camera to the live action shot of the real jungle and polygons for each object, and then with everything aligned, use the virtual CGI camera to help separate the distance of the layers. I can imagine a very time consuming task, though similar I believe to how it was done with Jurassic Park's 3D direct conversion (almost no original CGI assets, only the original film).

Every time a strong 3D conversion is offered, I think how time consuming and complex it is to convert each shot, unless they have a program that streamlines the process and speeds things up considerably. While it would be easier to just use 3D filming, the directors often want to avoid the extra time on the set to get each 3D shot set up properly, and opt for a post conversion.

I can imagine this will be a hybrid conversion, mix of live action converted into 3D, and blended with CGI rendered 3D scenery, gorillas, etc,

The casting looks excellent. I'm not expecting great 3D, but I'm sure it will be a decent conversion and a fun adventure.

It's definitely a darker mood to the Tarzan theme. Hopefully the 3D delivers better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this being a different crew.

Thanks. Trying to remember if I saw this one's 3D trailer in theaters but I'm pretty sure it was for Jungle Book 3D.

If the 3D is strong I'll check this one out. Thanks.

No big deal, but it's something how Studios keep bringing Tarzan and King Kong type movies back into the spot light but instead of continuing with a new adventure, they decide to retell the same origin story.

Yeah, that is what I saw, 2D in front of the Imax 3D BvS. We will have to wait fore the 3D trailer.

I never saw it a few months ago. I tried looking thru the first few pages but didn't see a thread for it so didn't think there was one. Should've tried the search, I know. Times like this someone should just merge the threads together.

You lucky bastards, here in the UK we have to wait until next weekend before we get to see it. After Gods of Egypt this was my no. 2 most anticipated of the year. I literally cannot wait to watch it.

It's actually rare we luck out with a movie before the UK and other countries. Maybe it would've been better for Tarzan to wait next week so it's not in competition with BFG 3D. Then again, here's what July 2016 looks like unless things have changed:

JULY
Big Friendly Giant 3D
Legend Tarzan 3D
Secret Life of Pets 3D
Ghostbusters 3D
Ice Age 4: Collision Course 3D
Star Trek Beyond 3D

Plus Independence Day 3D from June, among others.

Just saw this in Imax 3D and was fairly unimpressed. Mainly the movie was mild with a few moments of medium and just a few moments of strong. The strong moments were mainly aerial scenic shots. The medium was more so ground related when they weren't in the rain, fog or at night. The scene where the
[Show spoiler]paddle boat explodes could have used more to it with all that debris flying all over the place
.

All in all it was like watching a 2D movie with bits of 3D thrown in there. Aside from that, the movie was great. Def worth seeing even if you only see it in 2D.

I was hoping the 3D would be worth it as I was really looking forward to this movie. Now it looks like I won't be getting the 3D Blu when it comes out.

They only had 2 3D trailers, Star Wars Rogue One and Suicide Squad.

They even showed the music video by Rhianna from the New Star Trek movie soundtrack before the movie.
