Default Add to my Movie Franchise Collection

Hi, I'm looking for ideas for movie franchises to collect. Below is a list of what I either have already or is on a wishlist somewhere to buy in the future.

Ideally I'm looking for trilogies or more, preferably available on blu-ray. I'm not into horror much, so you won't see 'Halloween' or 'Saw' etc, on the list, nor comedies such as 'The Hangover'. I'm keeping cartoons to a minimum, unless they complement a franchise already on the list ('Batman', 'Superman', etc).

I've included reboots and remakes as part of a franchise ('Poseidon Adventure', 'Wicker Man', etc) and I've let a couple of non-trilogies sneak in too ('Tron', 'Tomb Raider').

At the moment, I'm only looking to expand my collection to include trilogies with the same characters, so that I can watch them chronologically, rather than 'theme' trilogies (such as 'Red, White & Blue') by the same director.

However, I am collecting 'Theme Franchises', where there are several films around (usually) a character (eg. 'Peter Pan', 'Sherlock Holmes'), but aren't necessarily part of a studio franchise.

Anyway, if you can think of any omissions, please leave a suggestion and help me expand my collection. Cheers in advance.

You don't say you dislike westerns, so I would suggest the Man With No Name Trilogy or the Magnificent Seven Series.

For theme franchises, you could do a Philip Marlowe collection which includes the WAC blus of The Big Sleep and Murder My Sweet as well as the Kino release of The Long Goodbye.

I've pondered your list about 5 times and every time I think of something I look back and you have it!!

Looks like you have the vast majority ready to go!

The whole series together is called View Askewniverse (there are also comics and cartoons within it as well) and I also recommend it. It is fantastic.

I was thinking the View Askewniverse would include Red State, Jersey Girl, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and Tusk. Not sure those really share any continuity with the others. I know those first three I listed were called the Jersey Trilogy for a long time, but then he added to it. Maybe they should just be called Jay and Silent Bob movies.

Great ideas so far. Thanks. Particularly interested in a Philip Marlowe collection and The Thin Man. Others I'll have to research, such as Matt Helm and The Pusher.

Cheers.

If you do go the Marlowe route, there are also DVDs of Lady In The Lake, Brasher Doubloon, Marlowe, Farewell My Lovely and the remake of Big Sleep.
