![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Any of you had the chance to see this one in 3D? I found it on Netflix last night when I went back to watch Sammy The Turtle in 3D. I watched the first 5 minutes out of curiosity and for some reason after a while the audio goes out of sync with the video. Gorgeous colors though. Last edited by the13thman; 01-23-2023 at 02:36 PM. thor3D copy.jpg Thor: Legends of Valhalla 3D (2011) Haven't heard of this. Looks like very limited blu ray 3D distribution. Not even on amazon.com from what I saw. |

Mostly depth effect, with minor pop-ups. The animation and colors are really impressive. I wouldn't watch it to go on a 3D pop-out hunt but rather to watch a good animated film with lush colors, great texture, and captivating audio

There's another price cut on the brazilian 3D blu-ray, just for a limited time.
I bet it's the lowest it will get. |

I watched the Brazilian Blu-ray 3D version tonight. I really wanted to like Thor: Legends of Valhalla. This is Iceland's only stereoscopic 3D movie, and I love the concept of an animated Norse mythology tale. But this just wasn't for me. The constant screwball humor is not funny and removes any tension from the story. There's nothing heroic or glorious about these places or characters. Almost everyone is a stereotyped fool who lucks into doing anything right, including Thor, Odin, Hel (witch villain), all giants, and all vikings. The talking hammer was the least of my complaints. I stared blankly at the TV for most of the runtime, hoping it would be over soon.
The CGI animation is okay - sometimes decent, sometimes very poor. It's not very detailed, and the art style is bland. I was especially disappointed with their rendition of Valhalla. It looked like a crummy wooden castle with a bunch of deadbeat bachelors living in it. There were noticeable compression and banding artifacts. The English dub is below average, which really kills the production. I'd rather listen to the Icelandic dub, even if mouths don't match up, but it is hard to locate, and I'll probably never watch the film again. The 3D is native, which is rare for a foreign animation. The depth is passable but a bit too flat. There are some pop-out scenes (poking with a broomstick, Odin's eyeball rolling at the camera, etc.), but with nerfed interaxials, the objects don't leave the screen very far. Snow scenes look the best with particles falling outside the screen. There are several eyesore moments where objects are not rendered in the correct depth plane, and a few more where effects in the left and right eyes do not match. They tried, but the 3D here doesn't save the experience. Movie - 2/5 3D - 2.5/5 Last edited by BleedOrange11; 02-24-2023 at 09:16 AM. |
