Damn, this is actually a GREAT pickup for CR. This is easily the king (pun intended) of all killer arachnid movies.

I'll now feel that my Shout! DVD release isn't good enough...

I know someone who disagrees with you...
Arachnophobia-John-Goodman.jpg

But, yep, along with Arachnophobia, Kingdom of the Spiders is a favorite of mine as well. Granted, there aren't too many killer spider movies that set the bar terribly high.

I ordered Kingdom of the Spiders earlier this morning, and already got a shipping notification from Ronin about two hours ago.

Needless to say I'm pumped about this campy treasure coming to blu-ray.

Others I picked up from Ronin:

Flavia the Heretic
Deadly Dreams
Seizure
Slaughterhouse Rock
Twisted Nightmare
Delirium
Silent Scream - Blu-ray + Slipcover
One Dark Night - Blu-ray + Slipcover
Kingdom of the Spiders - Blu-ray + Slipcover

Arachnophobia is a great spider film! Different tone than KOTS but both offer up the goods on spiderphobiafreakout.

Speaking of spider movies...ever seen/heard of Kiss of the Tarantula? 1976 B-movie kinda a spin off Willard.

Oh and KOTS could never be filmed the way they did with PETA standing guard now.

I've never seen Kiss of the Tarantula, nor had I heard of it prior to now.

A Willard spin off sounds fine to me. I'm down.

Oddly enough, the synopsis on IMDB - A disturbed teenage girl unleashes her pet tarantula against her "enemies" - makes me think of another, completely different movie:

Turner Classic Movies has run Kiss of the Tarantula twice so keep an eye out. I've watched it both times; it's okay and has a pretty damn morbid ending. The spiders & synth sounds are also cool.

Arachnophobia gets worse the more I watch it. Fun B-movie but Daniels' "duel" with the shrieking, omnipotent, lightning-fast queen is about the height of ridiculousness.

KOTS, I feel, is better-made and has more to offer what with the catchy theme song and southwestern flair.

I really hadn't planned on upgrading my Shout DVD; as eloquently as I can wax about this superior 70s "creature feature", it's not one I'm impelled to buy twice. But that Code Red Blu looks like a beaut...

I saw Arachnophobia at the theater, and really enjoyed it, but I just wish that there had been some actual tension and an actual sense of danger for the characters in the film. It's one of those movies where you absolutely know that everything is going to turn out okay for everybody, and, while there's nothing wrong with that in itself, I prefer my "when animals attack" films to have more...more...more bite.

Kingdom of the Spiders for the win!

Hit up Legend Films, and see if you can work something out where you get to stick their Rifftrax commentary on as a special feature!

This is one is a little-bit mainstream for you ain't it Bill. I mean, hell, they play it on IFC occasionally...

I buy CR because it's stuff that I don't see on TV. If I wanted stuff I can see for free on TV, I'd collect Shout Factory.

I believe that there was a recent hint that Code Red would be releasing a well-known title. This works for me!

Never thought we'd see this on Blu ray.

I thought the master was lost and there was nothing to use to strike a new HD master?

This is good news! I really like 'nature goes wild' movies & K.O.T.S. is one of my faves. I have the paperback book, also.
