LG stopped providing firmware updates, what to do?

Tried to watch a two year old Blu-ray Disc (Divergent) on my LG BD390 and only got a "check disc". It played on my PC.

LG says the BD390 is too old and the last firmware/driver update was in 2013 (which I have), and there will be no more.

Any suggestions on what to do... .. ?

Sorry no answer for you; however, I find the situation interesting.

I hear much about updates, but the last time I updated my blu-ray player (a Magnavox purchased from Wal-Mart) was years ago. Yet, it plays everything I put into it.

It is slow to load, but other than that, it works great.

Did pretty well for a player that came out in 2009.

i think it's time to purchase a newer model, i suggest sony they seem to be good about updating their firmware

When friends say they are interested in upgrading to blu-ray, I tell them to only look at Sony or Samsung because of firmware updates. Our local store was wanting to stock a blu-ray player. I steered the manager to ordering a Sony (bdp-s5200) from 220- electronics. Unfortunately he had them shipped here via DHL and the shelf price is now beyond what most customers here can afford ($300), but if they do buy one, at least they won't have to worry about not being able to get firmware updates.

I've had my LG BD530 for a few years and never had a problem until yesterday when I put in The Revenant, and the video was glitchy. Sucks they aren't updating the firmware anymore. Guess I'll have to buy a Sony.
