United Kingdom High-Rise | July 18, 2016

Ben Wheatley's High-Rise is coming to Blu-ray on July 18th.

Who here has seen it? What did you think?
I absolutely loved it. Seeing it for the third time this evening in my local independent. But it seems to be one of those films that is dividing people and I'm interested to hear both sides!

Loved almost every moment of this. I think it did loose its way a little towards the beginning of the 3rd act but still loved the overall tone and atmosphere of the film.

Looking forward to catching this again on Blu.

I've seen it and I didn't really love it that much. Just thought it was OK. It's weird though, because there are parts of it I love - I really don't think it's "average" - but it just didn't grab me for some reason. Probably worth a second watch.

I absolutely love the film, although I wasn't crazy about the book funnily enough. I had the same issues people are having with the film with the book - ie. it didn't grab me and lost itself a few times. But the film...I love it.

Saw this way back in early February and it hasn't left my mind since, can't wait to see it again. I have a fair few problems with it, but aesthetically I loved it and it really chimed with my sense of humour.

Filmed up the road from me, that's the only reason I'm interested in it.

I really enjoyed this, and would definitely be interested in another watch. If Wheatley ever makes a film that doesn't divide audiences he'll probably have lost it! I love that he wants to explore extremes and weird ideas, and I think it's very hard to listen to anyone else's opinion on something so divisive. I've always thought if there aren't a bunch of people that hate something then it has little chance of being a film I'll truly love!

Had this in my hand yesterday, but still don't know if I'll like it. Love Wheatley, but as a big fan of the book I'm not sure if I'd enjoy his adaptation.

I'd probably wait for it to reduce in price then. I'd say if you were a big fan of the book, you should see the adaptation regardless of whether you'll like it or not. But you obviously don't want to buy something that you would only watch once.

Well what I mean is you wouldn't want to buy a film full price of you're only going to watch it once and not enjoy it, leaving it to gather dust on the shelf.

I'm curious how the extras of this edition compare to those announced for the US edition:

- Audio Commentary With Actor Tom Hiddleston, Director Ben Wheatley, And Producer Jeremy Thomas
- Building The World Of High-Rise: 70's Style
- Heady Special Effects
- Breaking Down High-Rise & Its Tenants
- High-Rise: Bringing Ballard To The Big Screen
- Theatrical Trailer

Well based on the press release the UK extras are:
- Audio Commentary with Director Ben Wheatley, Producer Jeremy Thomas, Actor Tom Hiddleston
- JG Ballard Featurette
- Cast Interviews with Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Sienna Guillory, Luke Evans, Keeley Hawes, Jeremy Irons, James Purfoy, Elisabeth Moss and Dan Skinner
- Crew Interviews with Jeremy Thomas, Rob Entwistle, Paki Smith, Odile Dicks-Mireaux, Nick Gillespie, Neil Wallace, Mark Tildesley, Jamie Egner, Glenn Marks, Dan Martin & Andrew Wilson

In the reviews I've read it says that the featurette is a pretty standard EPK. Would be good to know if the interviews on the disk are throwaway or enlightening.

The best 'extra' for the film I've seen so far has been on Vice's YouTube channel.

I would imagine, though can't confirm, the exclusive extras here are featurettes that Magnolia have edited themselves using the on-set interviews and B-roll listed as extras on the UK disc. (I can confirm that Soda's Blu-Ray for Canada contains the same extras as the UK disc, and also contains French dub and sub tracks - as well as English SDH - for those who need it.)
