Just got done watching The Mermaid on Charter on Demand.

This is a fantastic movie. After the slightly disappointing Journey to the West, The Mermaid returns Stephen Chow to form, with the film reminding one of the vibes one got when watching Stephen Chow films like King of Comedy, Shaolin Soccer, and Kung Fu Hustle.

I do highly recommend this film.

I too was disappointed with Jouney to the West. I may need to check this out. Thanks for the review.

I can only imagine the CGI in 3D looking rather worse.

I would have definitely picked this up on day 1 if it had the 3D. Now I'm just going to wait until best buy have this at their savestation with buy 1 get 1 free.

Just finished watching it and this is the Stephen Chow that I like. I was disappointed with Journey to the West but with this one I felt like it was back to Kung Fu Hustle/Shaolin Soccer roots. The story actually sets a great message about the ocean life and what we humans do to it to destroy.

It's a solid 4 out of 5.

Just watched the review on this site, and it's starnge that the US BD has a 2.35:1 ratio while it's 1.9:1 (same as IMAX ratio) when I saw it in Hong Kong. Not sure about China though, as trailers of both ratios exist.

It looks like the HK Blu-Ray is 1.9:1 per the back cover

This film was a lot of fun and quite hilarious in parts. The lead girl is cute as hell, too.
