I doubt a lot of people were expecting it, but the 90s animated film based on Hanna-Barbera's series, The Jetsons, will apparently be getting a Blu-Ray release in June. The film is known for having an environmental plot, and the role of Judy Jetson being redubbed from Janet Waldo (Original actress) to pop star Tiffany.
The film has a few DVD releases, having been distributed originally by Universal Pictures. The more recent DVD, and the Blu-Ray are released by Fabulous Films. The release date is June 6th, and is up for pre-orders. No information on what features will be added, or if it will be just a bare-bones disc. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jetsons-Mov...dp/B01EYMULXU/ https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Jetso...lu-ray/155893/ The show is still not available in the UK, and is unlikely if Fabulous Films will pick the show, like they did with The Smurfs. I love the original Jetsons TV series, had to import the DVD boxset from German.
I suppose its good that the movie is getting a blu-ray release, not that I will be getting it personally as i'm not really a fan of the film, maybe The Jetsons meet the Flintstones will be next? |

Watched this one today. Definitely a dated off-the-shelf master. Although certainly an upgrade on the DVD, it is a little disappointing just how dull the colours are. Light specks here and there and several other small anomalies (two weird small central black marks at 8:11 for several seconds etc). No extras or subtitles. AVC encode. Audio sounds fine. I would probably rate it a 2.5-3/5 for PQ.

and for a movie it fells largely like a TV episode plot, George gets promoted but is sabotaged/ or screws up and at the end back to the old status quo ![]() and then the voice acting , Mel Blank his voice was gone and he didn't even finish his lines, same for George and then the stupid Judy voice replacement, they could at elast made an ALT dub for the DVD / Bluray with the Janet Waldo recording Last edited by mike962; 07-01-2020 at 10:56 AM. |

I didn't mind it too much, some of its 1990-ness is rather charming (then again, the raps are awful). It does feel an odd theatrical film for its time in terms of subject, the plot as Mike says is just a TV pilot set-up. And although Tiffany's songs are nice, her voice acting and the recording is very phoned in (possibly literally).
