Default Fairy tail question ?

Hi does anyone know if Funimation intend on releasing a sixth collection as I have up to the 5th collection but was hoping they were going to release a 6th collection from episode 120 onwards otherwise it means spending a lot more money to get the individual parts where I'd prefer to just have them in collections

True, but the timing of the collections has been relatively consistent up until this point. See the following:

Part 2 release: December 2011
Collection 1 (Parts 1 & 2) release: April 2013 (16 months later)

Part 4 release: March 2012
Collection 2 (Parts 3 & 4) release: July 2013 (16 months later)

Part 6 release: August 2013
Collection 3 (Parts 5 & 6) release: January 2015 (17 months later)

Part 8 release: February 2014
Collection 4 (Parts 7 & 8) release: June 2015 (16 months later)

Part 10 release: May 2014
Collection 5 (Parts 9 & 10) release: November 2015 (18 months later)

Part 12 release: September 2014
Collection 6 (Parts 11 & 12) release: ???

Part 14 release: December 2014
Collection 7 (Parts 13 & 14) release: ???

Part 16 release: August 2015
Collection 8 (Parts 15 & 16) release: ???

Part 18 release: December 2015
Collection 9 (Parts 17 & 18) release: ???

Part 20 release: June 2016
Collection 10 (Parts 19 & 20) release: ???

We should have had both Collections 6 and 7 released by now. This is bothering me, too.

nobody knows.

no info on a release date yet and collection 6 is long overdue compared to the past release schedule.

The time between 2 and 3 was far longer then the gap of the rest if I remember correctly.

That's only because there was a huge gap between the releases of parts 4 and 5, though. FUNi waited to see how popular the property would be before licensing future chunks of episodes. A Collection (as outlined above) is just combining two Parts into one package (an 8-disc Viva Elite Blu-ray case with slipcover). The Parts, however, are 4-disc amaray DVD sets, at G1 height.

Do you think they'll do a third release after they finish up the first two? Even in the "collection" sets, it's still a lot of sets and I'd prefer to consolidate my shelf space with another release that has more episodes per set.

I doubt it, they don't seem to go beyond doing the two parts (24 episodes) to a set. Funimation likes to break things up to get more money out of you.

24 episodes a piece isn't that bad for a series like Fairy Tail, but if talking about series like Naruto and One Piece, then yeah 24 episodes is not enough.

Yeah but you're still looking at 10 sets on the shelf, that takes up a lot of space. Even if FUNi charged a little more per set, condense it down.

I used to have every VHS volume of DBZ including movies. That took a lot of space at 3 episodes each with an occasional 4 episodes, so I switched them out for DVD volumes to make more shelf space. Then against my better judgement, I switched those out for the orange brick season sets to gain more shelf space.

I remember the days of seeing hundreds upon hundreds of anime VHS tapes lined up on the shelves of comic stores, thinking to myself that there would be no way I'd ever buy that sort of thing until it could be in a much more streamlined, consolidated package. Ergo, I didn't start buying anything at all (movies, television shows or anime) until DVD really hit its stride. I do not miss the days of VHS at all...

(I also thought that DBZ and anime in general was for friendless nerds back then....)

Anime is for the cool kids only

Anyway, I have been waiting for the sixth set to be released also. I really hope they announce it soon as well as collection seven!

I don't understand if Funi thinks they are going to get people who have been buying the collections to switch over and buy the volumes instead or what. I can't imagine anyone has done that.

It's about time! They've fallen so far behind. For a couple years now it's kinda been punishment for people who haven't switched over to buying the single sets.

Fairy tail 22 just came out. So yeah, technically they could make the collections all the way up to 11 if they wanted (I know they wouldn't do that). But collections 6 & 7 are LONG overdue.

I love Fairy Tail. But I am also patient enough to wait.

I can't stand buying long running shows at 13 episodes a set. It's way too expensive and takes up far too much space lol
