Directors with the best extras

Which directors usually have the best extras for their movies? I know Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson are usually the kings of this, but I'd like to hear other examples.

Woody Allen

Ridley for sure is the best I'd say. Zack Snyder and David Fincher are some more good ones

Kevin Smith is another good one. When DVD was the format of choice, his releases were stacked. They're pretty much all just carried over to the Blu-Ray releases of his film, save for one glaring exception.

Edgar Wright always does well for extras, all three parts of the Cornetto Trilogy have great stuff plus his commentary tracks with Simon Pegg are fantastic.

Francis Ford Coppola - his commentaries are always eloquent, involved and insightful.

John Carpenter and guest commentary. Usually Kurt Russell, but the others are good. Haven't heard the Jeff bridges one on starman yet, but I heard that's one of the best commentaries.

He's usually very informative, engaging, and has some amusing anecdotes.

agree with many already listed- also would include early Scorsese on- Criterion laserdisc- for Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. Skip film school and give both of those commentaries a listen. For a wanna-be filmmaker- they are fantastic.

Love him or hate him, but Michael Bay stacks those Transformers releases with tons of extras.

Obviously there are dozens more. Again, depending on the locale a title is released, can and will have varying bonus features.

Another director I think usually provides good extras is Bryan Singer and his X-Men films. The first film, X2 and DOFP: The Rogue Cut all have pretty darn solid special features.

Kevin Smith. The Snowball Effect on th Clerks disc might be my favorite extra ever. His commentaries are always funny especially for Mallrats and Chasing Amy.
