Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

That's all I require, everything else is a bonus. I don't support DRM or piracy so this would be the only way to get the game without paying exorbitant prices.

I tried to limit my list to games already on the Virtual Console because that is what is going on the NES machine but I think I slipped a couple of whishful thinking in there too I am not sure, I don't turn my Wii U on very much anymore to remember what is even on the VC store, and I never go into Wii mode even when I do.

I think too many RPG's would be a bad idea, as much love as they get by hardcore gamers and collectors, they are not that popular with the masses and something like this has to appeal to ALL gamers not just the JRPG nuts. I think Doom is the only game I threw on there that I would substitute but I don't know what to replace it with. Maybe another 1st party title or a DKC sequel.

Oh yeah mine should have said Super Play Action Football don't know where I got Pro Action Football from, been too long since I played the game I guess.

I wonder if they could even use TMNT: Turtles in Time or Mortal Kombat 1-3.

TMNT they could work something out but Warner would most likely NOT let them touch the MK games and with good reason, the SNES versions all suck anyways. MK2 was barely passable for the time and only because we didn't have anything better to compare it to. Today there are a hundred better ways to experience MKII and the shitty SNES port is the farthest from ideal.

I wish these mini consoles would be this. Filled with unreleased betas and cancelled projects. That would be quite the novelty.

Forget Yoshi's Island and such.

Nintendo doesn't own the rights to the Super/FX chip and that's basically the reason why the game hasn't made it onto Virtual Console.

That means Yoshi's Island & Star Fox are impossible. Are there any other chips they don't own?

When I look through the list at the bottom of this page I think games using most of the other chips have appeared on virtual console:

It could also be they chose to release the superior GBA version and since it sold well why bother with the inferior SNES version?

Of course nobody knows or understands the (non)logic Nintendo operates by. I wouldn't expect them to do this right, after all with NES mini they are sticking to using Wii components when it would be in their best interest to divorce themselves from the Wii branding as much as possible. With Miitomo app recently launching though I fear that is not on their radar at the moment.

The GBA version just has a few extra levels. The SNES version has much better graphics and sound so it is definitely the superior version.

My guess is that this remainder of the company wants lots of $$$ for the rights. And that for basically 2 games only (Star Fox + Yoshi's Island)? Yeah, there are a few more games, but those do not really matter. There is also Doom, but who cares. Nintendo couldn't publish that anyway.

Also just take a look at the Super/FX chip. It says (M) 1992/1993 A/N Inc.
(M) is a copyright symbol for masked work (Integrated circuit layout design protection). Other SNES chips explicitly say (C) Nintendo. Super/FX doesn't. And even software could be affected too.

That is all speculation and really large leaps in logic. You are assuming because they contracted another developer to design the chips that they don't have any say in the games. You don't understand how copyright law works or patents apparently. First the patent for the Super FX is expired by now, they don't last that long, its public domain now so your myth debunked right there. Second, chips can be patented which means nobody else can manufacture them, they cannot be copyrighted which means once you, the patent owner, put the chip on the market anyone can write software for it, unless you lock it out and require licensing, which would not have been a negative for Nintendo as they clearly had licensed the right to use the chips, otherwise they wouldn't have used them in their carts. Third, Nintendo could get around that imaginary legal scenario that does NOT exist, if it did, by just recoding the games to run on Wii U hardware, the software belongs to Nintendo they can port it to whatever the hell they want. Does that mean they can emulate the SFX perfectly, not if there were some legal mumbo jumbo preventing them but in this case there is nothing that would imply that based on the nature of the partnership and the fact patents expire.

Finally nothing in the documents you provided says Nintendo didn't retain some rights to the specific chips. Nothing. Even if it did, the patent has expired by now so anyone can use them, but you do not HAVE to use the chips to emulate them, so again total myth entirely FALSE.

The likely reason, knowing Nintendo, why the handful of games are not on Virtual Console probably goes with the same reason other games people clamor for are not, Nintendo is notorious about promoting the newest version. Look at how long it took to get Star Fox 64. Finally, with old 2D games they can still look playable on modern sets but Star Fox the original, and most SFX games for that matter, are really unplayble blocky nightmares, modern gamers and even retro Nintendo fans would rather skip those three or four games. The only one that used the chips that would sell to today's gamers is Mario World 2 and they tend to prefer the GBA port anyways. Does it make sense, no but much of what Nintendo does is baffling anyways.

My list would be very similar, with the three bolded absolute musts to make me buy the system (I would buy it for those 3 alone, and won't buy it without them), great coincidence that you listed them so closely together . I'm also happy to see other Actraiser fans.
