Default "Life Is Strange" video game to be made into a movie.

Quote:
Legendary Digital Studios have acquired the rights to adapt the cult hit video game Life is Strange. The adaptation is being developed and produced with Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment. Johnson previously produced the Skulls of the Shogun animated series for Nerdist and is attached to Sony Pictures’ upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Life is Strange is an episodic video game about a high school student named Max Caulfield. When Max discovers she has the power to rewind time, she and her friend Chloe Price set out to investigate the disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, uncovering a dark underbelly to their hometown of Arcadia Bay.

Legendary will begin the search for a writer and a director for Life is Strange soon.

I think it could make a great film. But it has a massive problem in that the time travel is really a gameplay mechanic designed to change the story. It could just cheapen the entire story if not utilised properly, and you can't out and out remove it like you could most adaptations because it affects the storyline so much.

That and it has so much out-dated millennial jargon it's kinda painful.

This could work well if done right.

I can see this being a movie... as along as they do it right.

Pretty stoked about this. I was a big fan of the game, but the whole "decide where the story goes next" magic gets lost if they turn it into a movie. Still, I'm curious to see what they can come up with.

I'd have thought it would've been more suited as a Netflix-type mini-series, especially since the game was released episodically. I guess a tight thriller might be OK.

Any update on this? If done right, this could be the best comedy of the year:

I can see the potential in that. The story of Life is Strange was very interesting. But it all depends on the director…hopefully it won’t be another failed video game movie adaptation like in the past.
