But unlike the prototype 'Bond, James Bond', I don't think Bourne was actually born 'Jason Bourne'. I mean wasn't that Treadstone program thingy supposed to be changing names so that Bourne was reborn with the name Bourne instead of the name he was born with?

No his name isn't actually Bourne.. It's David Webb, you learn that in one of the older movies, think the last one.

If the designer spent more than two minutes mocking up that cover and tagline i'd be very surprised. That's an "Oh s***! I totally forgot I was supposed to do that by this morning!" cover right there.
