I think after about 200, you're kinda just listing films that are good as opposed to films that are your favourite. But it's a pretty stellar list overall.

After about 20 you're starting to dig really deep. 1000 films? Favorites? Nah. Thats crap.

The sheer expanse of years and genres it covers make it virtually impossible to do it otherwise. I've been in Edgar's orbit for the last 13 years, and he is a guy who lives and breathes movies. He's the UK's Tarantino for encyclopedic knowledge of film, so to whittle it down to any particular order is like trying to pick a favourite snowflake.

They've got a lovely mix of cineaste and movie fan. It's a blend most people should aspire for.

The big question is how many of those do we need on Blu-ray?

I'm a firm believer that the films that are loved by most throughout the history of film are loved for a solid reason. That reason is that they are good to f***ing great films. Usually it's hipsters/contrarians or wannabe film buff snobs that shit on the greats simply because of how popular they are.

His list is damn solid.

I'm surprised that John Ford is largely ignored on this list, save for The Grapes of Wrath and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Also surprised a lot of the early Bond films are left out. Still a great list, though.
