God! Why why why such cruelty?
All I ask for is a basic black and wide full screen 35mm. I may have to literally skip it. Not sure if technicolor portions of it alone is worth the cropped picture, fake colors buy. K. Asif must be turning in his grave. |

I will definitely buy this! See as much as I would love to get my hands on the original black n white full screen. Indian home video viewers would find the coloured wide screen version worth their buck (generally speaking) and at this point it's all about increasing Blu ray sales

Really saddened to hear that this abomination will be released instead of the original. I only hope they at least stick to the original aspect ratio, although I highly doubt it, and it's the complete version not the edited version.

^ The DVD was cropped just at 1.50, which is closer to the original aspect ratio of 1.375. Some theatrical screenings presented the movie at 1.78, leading a lot of people to think that the colorized version was formatted to that aspect ratio. However, the colorized version of Naya Daur was reportedly presented at 1.78 in screenings as well as on DVD.

Latest MEA Color release date according to NJMTV:
12-01-2016 Its definitely not October 2nd week for sure! Also, NJMTV mentions EROS as BRD authoring company not SHEMAROO. Last edited by Hindustani; 09-29-2016 at 12:15 AM. |

horrible, horrible just atrocious. There is nothing to talk about there.
Even the original color shot "technicolor" scenes are a travesty. I dont see any detail whatsoever. They just slapped the 2004 DVD 480p DI slapped on this BRD. PQ is literally ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am glad I was ready for a huge disappointment. No effort to put out a quality product yet again. BD could have featured the entire movie in the correct aspect ratio and also the expected quality of a blu-ray. Sad thing is that they will judge putting out other classics based on this joke of a BD. Such a shame.

During its revival, Mughal-E-Azam was attempted to be given a restoration for its colorization. The only source available to them was an extremely damaged duplicate print. At the end, a very cheap restoration was given to it, with people who did not have proper expertise. That is evident from the fact that the colorized DVD showcased the film with incomplete clean up. Shakes, disjoints, debris stayed. So if the original restoration job itself was supremely sub-optimal, I don't see how this colorized version could look any better.
We don't know what kind of a source was used to author this BD, whether the negative print of the colored version or the DI. But judging by the screenshots, the BD seems faithful to the quality of restoration originally granted to the film. Some close up shots have decent detail, from what I see. Im 100% sure this bd is an upscale of 2004 dvd. they just removed interlence from that dvd, upscale it and the restoration has been done ........... even the color correction is not properly done. Aspect ratio wrong. totally a crap bluray. just shame on shemaroo.they just ****ed the legendary movie by wrong authorization
