I actually remember mildly enjoying this back in the day. I wouldn't be willing to shill out a lot of money for it though.

Awesome. I've always thought this was a great psych thriller and an interesting role for Mac at the time. In retrospect, I'd dare say it was a fairly bold career choice for him after the Home Alone movies.

Read the novel when I was 12.

And then my dad took me to see it in the theater.

Elijah Wood is the only redeeming factor in this movie. Macaulay Culkin is a hack.

I think both guys had some good roles during their child star upbringing (even North kind of gets a bad rap. The War is pretty underrated, too). Obviously Macaulay's acting career flamed our by the time he was a teenager while Elijah's flourished. But I always thought Mac's decision to take this role right after the Home Alone movies was kind of ballsy. It was like a "heel turn" in wrestling and was a surprise back then to see him play such an evil kid. Even though everyone knew going in that it was a rated R movie, I still remember practically the whole theater reacting pretty strongly to when Mac first used the F word. It felt kind of edgy at the time. Then he went right back to "safe" PG roles and pretty much left the biz.

Saw this in the theater and remembering how intense it was and the reactions from other people during the film. You would've thought after this film and the response it got that Mac would've had a long list of roles lined up. After this I only remember him doing Richie Rich and The Pagemaster in 1994 before disappearing from the scene. This will definitely find a spot on my shelf.

I don't think I have watched this film since the mid 90s lol. it will be fun to revisit it on Blu-Ray!

I hope this is playable in the US! I need this on bluray, one of my favorite roles of his. **** what Ebert said about this movie, what a stupid review.
