Default The Lion King 15th Anniversary

I was on wikipedia browsing for some random movie information when i read that The Lion King was being released on blu-ray next year for it's 15th anniversary. for those of you familiar with wikipedia you know it is the most unreliable thing on earth due to the fact anyone can edit the information. BUT that brings to light the fact that it actually is the 15th anniversary next year and Disney is looking for a way to end this war. Could Disney be hiding information about this because this movie could bring the end of the high def format war. And not to mention it has been featured in the new blu-ray commercials on Disney dvds. Just speculation but could it actually happen?

If this was true I'm all over this one. I remember when it came out and I still think it's the greatest and my favorite animated flick of all time.

well wikipedia is the farthest thing from the truth though i have found some information regarding certain things months before any official announcements. one regarding disney in particular.

a few months ago i was browsing wikipedia and found a brief paragraph saying that tim burton would be directing an alice in wonderland remake for disney. and what do you know a month later the news was all over.

but what i am asking is though, is it a possibility with Sleeping Beauty already being planned for release? and if so how could they be hiding this without it getting out?

I don't have any inside information but last year the studios announced a great big list of titles at the CES. If you look at the announced releases for next year there are many weeks that have few titles after mid Feb. I think you will find Disney and others making some pretty spectacular announcements during this years CES.

yea i noticed this the other day when i was looking at the up coming months. After the first week of april things start to drop off. CES and and the next month or two we should see a truck load of announcements of movies coming. However, unless Disney surprises us, the only animated films we are getting this year is Finding nemo, sleeping beauty, and tinkerbell(direct to blu) which is all fine with me because i am getting all three day and date with release. If i was a betting man, i would put money on the studios announcing a TON of titiles coming this year at CES and then through the rest of January and February we will see release dates for April through August.

I don't think Lion King would end the hi def war, but if they release all of their old classics I think that would have a huge impact.

why wouldn't it though. it's probably the only animated movie that both boys and girls will enjoy watching (disney wise you've got princesses or princesses) and it is a lot more popular than most of the others animated films, not to mention the huge revenue at the box office it had. i dont know but it would sure put a huge dent in sales at the very least.

but once again no one has answered my question. is there even the slightest possibility it could be planned?

same here for nightmare before christmas i would even spend $40 for a bluray release of Nightmare Before Christmas without even thinking of how expensive that would be even though i know it wont be that much but even so what i am trying to say is i wouldnt even care how much i paid for it. and isnt touchstone one of disney's sister companies or something like that like for instance buena vista and miramax?
